About MRC/ UVRI:
The MRC/UVRI Uganda Research Unit on AIDS was established in 1988 as a
collaborative effort between the Governments of the Republic of Uganda and the
United Kingdom on the research of HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) infection
and AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome). The Unit is a centre of
excellence in HIV/AIDS related research It conducts large-scale epidemiological
and intervention studies, clinical trials, virological and immunological
research and behavioural studies, and has generated a wealth of research
results that have been used to inform policy and practice, and that have led to
a large number of scientific publications in peer reviewed journals over time.
Job Summary: To drive Unit
vehicles safely and efficiently according to provided schedules
Key Duties &
Responsibilities:
  • Drive designated vehicles according to
    current safety, route and schedule policies.
  • Record all journeys undertaken in the log
    book
  • Ensure the vehicle driven is in a safe
    operating condition.
  • Report any faults found on the vehicle to
    the fleet supervisor for immediate rectification
  • Conduct weekly checks and submit reports
    to the supervisor on the mechanical condition of the assigned vehicle
  • Ensure vehicles are not overloaded with
    passengers or goods.
  • Communicate regularly with supervisor on
    all matters arising from duties assigned
  • Maintain the assigned vehicle clean and
    tidy both internally and externally
  • Maintain a smart appearance while on duty
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
  • Must have completed A-Level or the
    equivalent.
  • Good credits in O’Level Mathematics and
    English are preferred
  • 3 years driving experience, two of which
    must have been in a large, reputable organisation.
  • Good communication skills in English
    Certificate in defensive driving.
  • Valid Driver’s Licence with Classes B, C
    & DL Certificate in vehicle mechanics is an added advantage
