Job Summary: Working closely with the Oxfam international in Uganda Country director, Program Leads, you will be supporting our advocacy and communication work in Uganda, you will design and implement the communication strategy; generate and analyse information for all audiences. You will be the “to go to person” for all communication, information and media work in the country programs. In addition, you will work with the program teams to develop effective communication materials and disseminate information as will be mandated. You will act as a public spokesperson by liaising with media and other external parties and give interviews in consultation with the country director; serve as the ‘to go to person’ on all Single Management Structure (SMS) communication needs of the Oxfam team and to liaise with the relevant parts of the Oxfam confederation by preparing, updating and implementing the Oxfam SMS and other communication plans.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
·         If you are a bright, efficient and self-motivated individual with a university degree in the relevant field this is the job for you.
·         To do this job you will have strong analytical and excellent communication skills and a strong background in communication and advocacy work.
·         You will have worked in a reputable private, governmental or non-­governmental organisation.
·         Writing in English will be one of your strongest skills and you’ll be able to adapt your style according to your audience.
·         Capacity to work effectively with others is key, as well as interpersonal awareness and ability to influence others.
·         A minimum of 5 years working experience in a similar job is desirable.
