Project Coordinator – Menstrual Hygiene Management
Background to the Menstrual Hygiene Management
Plan Uganda in partnership with AFRIpads, Plan Australia and Plan Netherlands are implementing a four year project on Menstrual Hygiene Management in Tororo and Lira districts. The project seeks to address the Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) needs of Ugandan school girls and women and to develop models for working with Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLA) to create awareness and increase access to affordable reusable sanitary pads, while at the same time presenting income generation opportunities for women.
Major Responsibilities /Key result areas
The successful candidate will be based in Tororo and will have responsibility for:
·         Overall delivery of the menstrual hygiene management (MHM) Project in Tororo, and Lira
·         Prepare annual detailed project implementation plans and budgets.
·         Oversee the implementation of the work-plans and annual budgets.
·         Lead project monitoring and documentation activities.
·         Manage relationship with Afripads Uganda Ltd and other project stakeholders.
·         Develop and over see implementation of Monitorings Evaluation and procurement plans.
·         Lead basic accounting, financial reporting and stock-sales records on the project and accountable for all project resources
Required Competencies
·         A Master’s degree in Public health, Development Studies, Micro-finance, Business Administration or equivalent significant training/background and professional training on programming and/or in related field
·         At least 5 years experience working in any of the fields of WASH / Health promotion for girls in schools, Micro-enterprise development, Marketing, Village Banking in rural areas and sanitation marketing.
·         Demonstrable abilities in planning, budget and reporting.
·         Familiar with current issues in the field of development and children’s issues in particular in the context of Human Rights based programming
·         Strong awareness of the importance of integration of various sectors including WASH, Health and Micro enterprise development in development.
·         Demonstrable abilities to meet deadlines and work cooperatively with all other local partners
·         Experience in resource mobilization both at local and international levels
·         Excellent project management skills, including partnership management and team leadership
·         Strong strategic and analytical thinking
·         Excellent interpersonal, analytical and communication (verbal and written) skills appropriate to the audience with ability to work with people from diverse cultures,
·         Ability to supervise, lead and motivate people to work in teams
·         Computer skills in Ms. Office and Internet
·         Knowledge of Adhola and Ateso will be an added advantage
