About
MRC /UVRI:

The MRC/UVRI Uganda Virus Research Unit on AIDS was established following a
request in 1988 from the Uganda Government to the British Government for
collaboration on the research of HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) infection
and AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency.
The Unit is a center of
excellence in HIV/AIDS related research. It conducts large-scale
epidemiological and intervention studies, clinical trials, virological and
immunological research and behavioral studies, clinical trials, virological and
immunological research and behavioral studies, and has generated a wealth of
research results that have been used to inform policy and practice, and that
have led to a large number of scientific publications in peer reviewed journals
over time.
Job
Summary:
  To raise awareness about the studies and
mobilize communities participate in studies.

Key
Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure
    full understanding of objectives, procedures, risks and benefits of
    participation by volunteers
  • Contribute
    to effective mobilization of the study population and provide feedback to
    communities on study results.
  • Facilitate
    group education sessions about study requirements to study participants
  • Track
    volunteers who are enrolled in studies and remind them on their scheduled
    visits to improve study retention
  • Contribute
    to design and implementation of study specific recruitment and retention
    strategies.
  • Facilitate
    participant meetings to address their concerns regarding study procedures
  • Participate
    in data collection as may be required
 Qualifications,
Skills and Experience:
  • Advanced
    level (A-level) Education/Diploma in any field.
  • 3
    years’ experience in community engagement and participant tracking for
    research.
  • Fluency
    in Luganda and ability to ride a motorbike.
 Other terms and conditions
for the post are within the MRC salary scales and will be commensurate with
qualifications and experience.
