About Project:
The Government of the Republic of Uganda, through the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES) is planning to introduce a Student Loan Scheme to increase equitable access to higher education in Uganda; support highly qualified students who may not afford higher education; ensure regional balance in higher education services in Uganda; develop and support courses which are critical to national development an ensure quality education in public institutions through quality assurance and supervision. The MoES applicants herein will form part of the Loan Scheme after which commencement of the formulation of the Student Loan Board.
Job Summary:  The Loans Officer will be responsible for assisting students acquire loans and will analyse and verify all loan applications to determine who are eligible and that funds are disbursed to the qualifying applicants and institutions in time.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Interview applicants to determine loans financial eligibility.
  • Collects basic information (bio-data) and purpose of the loan and eligibility to repay amount borrowed.
  • Maintain and review all accounts records and updating them as need be.
  • Guide the students in decision making and helping them solve their problems.
  • Inform the students about the financial assistance available to college and university students.
  • Act as liaison between the students and the institutions of higher learning
  • Conduct a research on the fees unit cost so as to have a good base on which to disburse the loans
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Operations. 
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The applicant should possess a Bachelor’s degree in a business-related course
  • Possession of a post graduate qualification in credit management
  • At least three years working experience in a recognized financial / credit institution.
Personal Competencies: Strong research skills, Analytical skills, numerical skills, Computer literacy, excellent communication and writing skills, high integrity levels
Age: 26 Years and Above
