About US:
Action for Community
Development (ACODEV) is a national NGO that has been implementing program in
Uganda for 11 years now. ACODEV has received funding from Save the Children
International (with support from the Dutch Government) to continue implementing
the Keep It Real (KIR) project in all divisions of Kampala Capital City
Authority this 2015. The project which is a Sexuality Education project aims at
providing boys and girls with age appropriate, culturally relevant and
scientifically accurate information. The ultimate goal of the project is to
contribute to reduced unintended and early pregnancy, child marriage,
contributing to HIV prevention, improved health, and helping young people to
complete school, and contribute to a productive and empowered younger
generation. The project will work s with in-school going young people in 100
primary and secondary schools and 20 out of schools youth groups
Job Summary:  The Finance and Admin Manager will head the
Finance and Admin Department and will be a strategic thought- partner, and
report to the Executive Director (ED). The successful candidate should be a
hands-on and participative manager who is ready to lead and develop an internal
team at ACODEV to support the following areas: finance, business planning and
budgeting, human resources management, administration, and IT. He or she will
manage financial planning and Donors relations, ensure comprehensive financial
monitoring and reporting, Finance and tax audit, Administration and Human
resource management; the incumbent will oversee general administration. The job
holder will ensure compliance to finance policies and procedures, Supervision
and Capacity Building of the finance team at national and regional offices.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    candidate should hold a university degree of BCOM, BBA, Statistics,
    Economics or related field; Masters in Business Administration, Finance or
    Human Resource is preferred.
  • The
    applicant should be a holder of CPA, ACCA or other internationally
    accredited professional accounting bodies.
  • A
    minimum of six or more years work experience in finance, managing people,
    performance management, monitoring and evaluation, capacity building in
    national nongovernmental or international organization is preferred.
  • Past
    experience in designing and managing budgets and the corresponding
    International NGO’s acceptable reporting formats including but not limited
    to USAID, EU and other international development partners.
  • Past
    expertise in using various accounting packages or software like Quick
    books and Navison;
  • Prior
    experience in Human Resource management including training and
    facilitation skills for staff and good communication and people relations
    skills;
  • Past
    experience in procurement, stores and fleet management required.
  • Possess
    the ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of
    employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance,
    creativity, problem solving, and results.
