Job Summary: The Manager
Expedited Mail Services & Logistics will oversee, plan and coordinate the
activities of the EMS unit and ensure efficient operations and that there venue
targets of UPL are achieved.

Key Duties and
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- The jobholder will determine work
procedures, prepares work schedule and expedites workflow of the EMS, and
recommend budget needs for the unit. - Manage and direct staff in the dispatch
section to ensure safe and timely delivery of mails and other items in
accordance with UPL delivery standards - Prepare annual plans for the department
for approval by line supervisor on an annual basis, and ensure planned
activities are implementation in line with UPL’s Business plans. - Contribute to the income generating and
sustainability initiative of UPL. - Regularly monitor revenue earnings and
manage expenditures within the section, supervise counter sales staff,
ensure timely billing/invoicing of contract customers. - Plan the daily logistics requirement and
schedules for EMS delivery fleet of vans and motorcycles, either entering
or leaving Head Office. - Set, review and liaise with regional supervisors
in monitoring and growth of SCHOOL POST and EASY MAIL product, prepare
operational and performance reports on monthly, quarterly and annual
basis. - Implement appropriate marketing strategies
and high level of customer service to enhance the brand of UPL’s products. - Render support to the EMS team through
capacity building, coaching and mentoring. - Carry out the Performance Management of
the staff in the unit by setting sales targets, carrying out performance
reviews, convening corrective meetings, reviewing and preparing UPL
performance reports. - Oversee and coordinates all air freight
business operating in conjunction with the mailing unit. - Recommend optimal transportation model, or
routing of mails or items - Resolve problems concerning transportations,
logistic systems, imports or exports and ensure customers concerns are
addressed
Key Performance Indicators:
- Increased sales and revenue generated.
- Timely billing/invoicing of contract
customers. - Completed performance reviews.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
Experience:
- The applicant should hold an honours
Bachelor’s degree in a Business studies or Management from a recognized
institution - Possession of a relevant postgraduate
qualification is desired - At least eight years of related working
experience, five of which should have been obtained at supervisory level. - Extensive knowledge and experience in
Logistics Management, Customs procedures and Courier Service
