About Project:
Handicap International launched an assessment in Uganda in order to be
part of the response and in particularly to coordinate teams analysing and
responding to needs emerging due to 1) the current drought and food crisis and
2) displacement of thousands of South Sudanese, fleeing the conflict in their
country and seeking refuge in Northern Uganda.
Job Summary: The Finance Officer
will support Handicap International’s Administrative Coordinator by being responsible
for the mission accounting and cash flow management overseen by the
Administrative Coordinator.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:   
  • The Finance Officer will be responsible
    for accounts control;
  • Tasked with the management of cash flow
    and cash boxes;
  • Supporting the Administrative Coordinator
    in budgetary and financial administration;
  • Participating to the weekly team meetings;
  • Ensure the strict application of the
    rules;
  • Report any incident in which s/he’s
    involved/witnessed immediately;



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the Handicap
    International Finance Officer job opportunity must hold a professional
    diploma or University degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics;
  • Professional qualification as a CFA/CPA is
    considered a plus;
  • One year of experience in a similar
    position;
  • Previous experience with an NGO;
  • Extensive knowledge of accounting and
    finance principles and procedures
  • Excellent accounting and software user;
  • Knowledge of tax regulations in the
    country;
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills;
  • Sharp time management skills;
  • Strong ethics, with an ability to manage
    confidential data;
  • Ability to work under high pressure;
  • Excellent coordination skills;
  • Languages: Spoken and written
    English
  • Computer Skills: Advanced MS
    Excel skills, MS Office (Word, Excel) and internet;
