Job Summary: The Health
Specialist (Health Systems Strengthening) will support the system strengthening
component of the GAVI-HSS II and Rotavirus vaccine grants for the Uganda
National Expanded Program on Immunization (UNEPI). This includes technical
guidance on strengthening the components of health system at sub-national level
through the HSSII and Rotavirus vaccine grant within the UNICEF country program
and Ministry of Health UNEPI. The Health Specialist provides technical guidance
to achieve health system strengthening, sustainable results according to plans,
allocation, results based-management approaches and methodology (RBM) and
organizational Strategic Plans and goals, standards of performance and
accountability framework.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate
for the United Nations UNICEF Health Specialist (Health Systems
Strengthening) job opportunity should hold an Advanced University Degree
in public health, pediatric health, family health, health research,
international health, health policy and/or management, environmental
health sciences, health education, epidemiology or other health related
science is required - At least five years of
professional experience in public health planning and management,
specifically in immunization or in relevant areas of maternal and neonatal
health care, health emergency/humanitarian preparedness, at the
international level some of which preferably in a developing country is
required. Relevant experience in health system strengthening and
management in any UN system agency or organization is an asset - Developing country
work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is considered an asset. - Fluency in English is
required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French,
Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset. - UNICEF’s core values:
