About US:
The Uganda Protestant Medical
Bureau (UPMB) was founded in 1957 as a registered faith based Non-Governmental
Organization under the Trustees Incorporation Act (CAP 165) as Registered
Trustees of the Uganda Protestant Medical Bureau. UPMB brings together Protestant
Churches in Uganda involved in Provision of Health Services. It serves as a
link between Government and / or Development Partners and UPMB-Member
Institutions and provides support to its members through capacity
strengthening, coordination, lobbying and Advocacy, public relations and
translation of government policies.
Job Summary: The Laboratory
Services and Logistics Advisor will oversee all laboratory and logistics
operations of the UPMB member Health facilities, Coordinate and provide
technical assistance to ensure quality adequate and reliable equipment,
supplies and HIV related laboratory services in the facilities
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Participate
    in planning and overseeing the laboratory functions of the UPMB member
    sites
  • Identify
    capacity gaps and planning for capacity building in the implementing
    facilities
  • Develop
    standard operating procedures and ensure that the facilities are using
    them
  • Ensure
    that the facilities are implementing and maintaining quality assurance and
    quality control procedures in their respective laboratories.
  • Develop
    an internal quality control system and external quality control system and
    ensure that facilities are using them.
  • Support
    facilities to establish and monitor equipment management and maintenance
    Systems in target Laboratories
  • Establish
    and monitor a Supply Chain Management System and ensure timely ordering of
    buffer stocks for target labs
  • Oversee
    the functionality for laboratory hubs in the network, providing but not
    limited technical assistance and capacity building to the staff supporting
    the hubs.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The
    ideal candidate should preferably hold a Master’s Degree in Biomedical
    Science or a related field Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Laboratory
    Technology
  • Three
    years of working experience in a medical laboratory
  • Experience
    in project HIV service delivery is critical
  • Previous
    experience of Good laboratory practice.
  • Qualification
    in logistics management will be an added advantage,
