Job Summary: The Country Director works to implement and
monitor the agreed program in partnership with the Association of Microfinance
Institutions of Uganda and the Uganda Co-operative Savings and Credit Union
Ltd., lead the local SBFIC team, manage the project resources, provide relevant
reports, manage relationships with stakeholders, develop and oversee office
procedures.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implement and further develop the program of SBFIC in Uganda with
the partner organizations AMFIU (Association of Microfinance Institutions
of Uganda) and UCSCU (Uganda Co-operative Savings and Credit Union Ltd.),
and ensure the achievement of the joint objectives of the partner
organizations and SBFIC - Budget management in accordance with established procedures and
maintain the financial and legal integrity of the organization - Provide progress reports and financial reports as required by
SBFIC’s procedures - Put in place and manage appropriate monitoring and evaluation
mechanisms within the SBFIC framework - Effective, cooperative and appropriate staff recruitment, induction,
management, supervision, appraisal, remuneration and development practice
at all levels in collaboration with the SBFIC East Africa Human Resources
Department to ensure the optimum utilization and development of SBFIC’s
human resources - Work closely with all team members, particularly with the German
residence expert - Ensure that SBFIC operates within the legal framework of the
Republic of Uganda, and in accordance with any contractual agreements
signed within this framework. - Establish, develop and maintain excellent working relationships
with: - Government authorities; particularly those relevant for the
financial sector development; - Key donors. Actively develop local and international funding
sources appropriate to SBFIC’s resource needs; - National and international partners and stakeholders in the
microfinance sector or related sectors; - National media. Ensure media coverage accurately reflects the views
of the organization, in collaboration with the PR department of SBFIC
East Africa - Develop and maintain appropriate contingency plans for all kinds of
emergencies in accordance with general organizational structures and
procedures of SBFIC EA - Ensure the appropriate management of all resources in a transparent
manner - Further develop the strategy of SBFIC East Africa together with the
Management Team - Office Management in Kampala and supervision of the office in Arua
- Other responsibilities and support to the management, as agreed with
the Regional Coordinators East Africa
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Master’s degree in finance, economics,
business administration, or a related subject - Five years of working experience in financial institutions,
preferably in the microfinance sector - Three years of experience in leadership/management positions
- Proven management skills, while taking a “hands on” implementation
approach when needed, in a small organization - Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills; very good
communication and negotiation skills - Excellent organizational skills, with a strong sense for
prioritization - Flexibility and ability to work on multiple tasks and under pressure
- Ability to use considerable judgment, initiative and independence
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Experienced in coaching and training
- Excellent presentation skills
- Fluency in English and Swahili (written and oral). Mastery of other
languages spoken in the countries of the Regional Office are a plus
(Kinyarwanda, Kirundi, French, German). - Excellent MS Office Suite mastery
- Driving license
