Job Summary: The IT Coordinator will coordinate and
provide the necessary IT support for all users by managing the local ICT
infrastructure and corporate systems under the direction of the Head of
Operations. To assist in implementing the Country strategy through the use of
Information and Communication technology.

To manage the
Information and Communications Technology (IT) environment and services
(including responsibility for information security) within the country under
the direction of the Country Director and the Regional IT Manager.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- The CITC is mandated to control IT budget for the Country in areas
of hardware purchase and deployment, hardware maintenance, connectivity
costs, software purchase and maintenance etc. - The CITC is required to produce reports that feed into the Country
Quarterly report that is submitted to the region. - The CITC is also required to produce reports to the Head of
Operations providing an update on the status of IT services in the
country. - The CITC is responsible to build the capacity off staff on effective
use of MS Office and other corporate software, to allow them to do their
job in the most effective manner. - The position is also required to support the Country Management Team
(CMT) by providing updates on IT services being provided to staff via the
IT department. - The CITC assists in the management and mitigation of risks
associated with Information and Communications Technology. Such risks are
in the areas of connectivity failures, safety of IT assets, safety of
organisation and user data, disasters affecting IT services both natural
and manmade, misuse of internet and email facilities by staff that leads
to loss of productive hours and inadequate bandwidth. - The position represents Plan International Uganda in different
forums that include regional Country IT Managers’ network, regional IT4D
networks, Plan Intranet contributors, BI online users. At local level the
position represents the department on extended country management team. - The position has a country level organisational reach which ensures
that IT services are running to the required standards country wide.
Key Result Areas:
- Participates in the development and implementation of the global IT
strategy and its impact on country operations. - Implements ICT disaster recovery plans within the business
continuity plan to ensure timely and effective restoration of the ICT
services in the event of disaster. - Responsible for security and access control for data and network
devices - Ensure all ICT equipment are held/purchased and disposed off
according to the Plan International Uganda IT policy. - Maintains the availability and reliability of the IT infrastructure,
applications and connectivity in a virus free environment. - Maintains agreed levels of service provision and service levels
- Participates as a member of the CMT from the IT perspective.
- Provides IT expertise for proposal development – IT4D)
- Leads the provision of technical support for corporate applications,
including installation and upgrades - Provides content input to IT staff recruitment, training and
development - Provides training and support on technical aspects of corporate
applications and information security responsibilities - As Local Information Security Officer (LISO) perform ongoing
activities as required by corporate policy
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant for the Plan International IT Coordinator job
placement must hold a degree in ICT / Computer Science - Five years of relevant working experience in a similar role
- Good knowledge of computer software and hard ware support functions
- Knowledge of server installations, maintenance and administration
- Knowledge of design, installation and administration of relational
database systems. - ICT Project planning and management
- Knowledge of local network installations maintenance and
administration - Knowledge of Wide Area network installations maintenance and
administration - Knowledge of telecommunication technologies installations,
maintenance and administration. - Reasonable knowledge of development work of the NGO sector and
current issues in the field of development in general. - Project and general management skills
- Capability to coordinate and cooperate within interdisciplinary
teams - Able to prioritise work effectively for execution with limited
resources - Strong conceptual and analytical skills
- Problem solving and decision making
- Strong negotiation, facilitating and influencing skills
- Working knowledge of English and the common national language
- Proficiency with computer systems; networks and information security
