About Organisation:

Cairo Bank Uganda was incorporated on 11th July, 1994.  The Bank was formerly known as Cairo International Bank owned by the three leading Egyptian Banks namely; Banque Du Caire, Bank Misr and National Bank of Egypt.  In 2019, it became a fully owned subsidiary of Banque Du Caire (BDC). The shareholder consolidation in 2019 was on the back of expanding its presence across Africa whilst providing an entry point into the COMESA market.

 

Job Summary:  The Assets and Liabilities Manager will provide input for strategic oversight, and policies that support the bank’s asset and liability section and aim to increase the bank’s profitability under the supervision of the Chief Finance Officer, by the bank’s vision and general objectives without compromising on growth.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide input for strategic oversight, and policies that support the bank’s asset and liability section and aim to increase the bank’s profitability under the supervision of the Chief Finance Officer, by the bank’s vision and general objectives without compromising on growth.
  • Ensure that the policies and procedures related to the asset and liability policy are adopted correctly to ensure that the business of Cairo Bank is carried out in accordance with local laws, internal rules and regulations, and international standards.
  • Prepare reports and statistics on assets and liabilities for presentation to the ALCO Committee.
  • Actively contribute to providing leadership and direction in driving the Balance Sheet and Capital Management of the Bank including the ALCO priorities.
  • Monitor potential risks according to the bank’s criteria and manage interest rate and liquidity risk and try to avoid the losses that may result from them.
  • Price treasury products according to the guidelines of the ALCO Committee and the needs of the business.
  • Ensure compliance with international funding and liquidity principles.
  • Responsible for liquidity metrics and early warning indicator reports (daily, weekly, monthly, yearly)
  • Responsible for building the Funds Transfer Pricing yield curve for foreign and local currency on a monthly and semi-monthly basis.
  • Prepare a monthly report showing the performance of the asset and liability section.
  • Forecast capital plans through supply and demand with group heads/general departments for presentation to the Assets and Liabilities Committee.





Qualifications Skills and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related from a recognized university.
  • Four years of professional experience in Asset and Liability Management
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Balance sheet management and internal reporting requirements.
  • Strong analytical skills and an eye for detail.
