Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To plan for all database systems, capacity management requirements
  • To analyze business application requirements and develop specifications for databases construction and maintenance.
  • Writing database documentation, including; data standards, procedures, policies, definitions for the data dictionary, capacity planning, maintenance, security, archiving and recovery.
  • To monitor and tune database performance as well as control user access, security and log management
  • To ensure corporate performance monitoring of all database resources and recommending appropriate action in case of performance Bottlenecks thus keeping flow of work uninterrupted.
  • To perform database scripts reviews both from internal and external developers to confirm correctness to both user and business function needs before deployment to both test and production environments.
  • Install, configure and setup of databases as in line with the IT policy
  • Ensures adequate security safeguards are in place to control access to all databases.
  • Ensures the integrity of database files through the daily monitoring of database backups, logs, journals and transaction statistics.
  • Oversees the proper distribution and controlled replication of data across Disaster Recovery (DR) sites and databases.
  • Allocates disk space for new data tables and monitors space utilization for existing data tables.
  • Implements database backup and recovery plans, and performs database recoveries and coordination with other areas of the IT department.
  • Prepares periodic reports on the status of all database systems to including performance data, economics data and database usage.
  • Provide user Support on the Core banking and other related business applications
  • Provide Credit reference Bureau support
  • Run end of day processing in the core banking system
  • Develop and design system accurate system reports in the core banking system
  • Ensure reports are available and accessible to intended users in a timely manner
  • Undertake any other duties as may be reasonably assigned by supervisors





Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an IT related field
  • Three years of experience in Database Management Oracle / MS SQL certified.
  • Experience in Dot Net (C#) and/or Java/Java based Application Development; SQL, Jbase & T24 Programming
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle / MS SQL databases.
  • Knowledge of Windows and Unix/Linux operating
