About US:

Cairo Bank Uganda Limited was incorporated on 11th July, 1994.  The Bank was formerly known as Cairo International Bank owned by the three leading Egyptian Banks namely; Banque Du Caire, Bank Misr and National Bank of Egypt.  In 2019, it became a fully owned subsidiary of Banque Du Caire (BDC). The shareholder consolidation in 2019 was on the back of expanding its presence across Africa whilst providing an entry point into the COMESA market.

 

Job Summary:   The Database and Applications Administrator will design, install, administer, and optimize corporate databases, database management systems and related components to achieve high performance of the various business applications and achieve specified server uptime.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To develop database operations, maintenance, security, archiving and recovery procedures.
  • To provide substantive input to systems Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity plan and ensure proper fail-over setup plans.
  • To monitor and tune database performance and control user access and security.
  • To ensure the functionality of databases and adherence to procedures by all users.
  • To plan for all database systems, storage/capacity requirements
  • Analyze business application requirements and develop specifications for database construction and maintenance.
  • Commission, install and test new applications and versions of Database Management Systems (DBMS)
  • Create and maintain reporting systems using products such as crystal reports, etc.
  • Communicate regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security
  • Run End of Day, End of Month and End of year operations
  • Report for duty on time and respond to any other duty as may be assigned by the supervisor/line manager.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in IT/Computer Science or other related field
  • Relevant Database Management System certifications in Oracle and SQL are an added advantage
  • Three years of experience in a similar role in a Supervised Financial Institution by the Bank of Uganda
  • Good working knowledge of Financial Institutions Operations and Regulations of Supervised Financial Institutions in Uganda.
  • Analytical and critical skills with proficiency in Excel and data assessments

  • Interpersonal and team player skills
  • Stakeholder management capabilities
  • Motivated and self-driven
