Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for supervising the team of community liaison officers through respective Community Tourism Supervisor by Geographical or operational area.
- Ensure the teams are undertaking the appropriate Stakeholder engagements to build trustful relationships with communities, local leaders and civil society (NGOs, tourism etc)
- Support to ensure the execution of the Social Management Plans (SMP) not limited to RAP, LRP and any other survey teams gain entry into and work within the communities.
- Monitor the implementation of the SMP by project teams and contractors to set KPI.
- Identify unanticipated impacts, report these to the Company’s Stakeholder engagement manager and also inform RSES and on emerging risks to Company’s image, staff and assets.
- To make sure all grievances being handled by the CLO’s are handled and adequately closed and handle other emerging issues and concerns without having to defer minor issues to Kampala.
- To understand the social clauses in contractors and subcontractors’ contracts & to monitor relations between Company’s contractors/sub-contractors and local communities.
- Support contractors with community recruitment for unskilled and semi-skilled jobs.
- Ensure necessary monitoring, reporting and feedback of activities through daily, weekly, monthly reports on Company’s social performance identifying risk and opportunities and track commitments;
- To monitor and report on compliance with the social clauses of contracts, as well as the overall standards of the Company Group including Company’s Code of Conduct, Ethics charter, and HSEQ Charter.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, Anthropology, Human Resources or equivalent
- Minimum 15 years’ experience working in Rural communities on an Oil and gas project with at least 4 years in a supervisory role.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to develop and maintain good relations with a wide range of stake holders including local communities, Non-Governmental organizations etc.
- Good supervisory, negotiation and conflict Management skills
