Job Title:  Principal Procurement Officer

About US:

Uganda Railways Corporation (URC) is a body corporate established under an Act of Parliament to construct, operate and maintain railway, marine and road services both inside and outside Uganda for the carriage of passengers and goods. As a result of privatisation of operations, the mandate of URC changed from that of an operator to that of asset holder, concession monitor and advisor on railway technical matters.

Job Summary:   The Principal Procurement Officer will be tasked with planning, coordinating, management and provision of technical guidance on procurement and disposal activities of the Corporation to ensure value for money.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• The applicant must hold an Honors Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Business Administration, Commerce or Economics (with a bias in procurement and Supplies Chain Management) from a recognised University, Plus Full Professional Qualification in Supply Chain Management.
• Must be a member of a recognised professional body in Supply Chain Management and Institute of Procurement professionals of Uganda (IPPU).
• Master’s degree in supplies chain management, business administration or management discipline is on added advantage.
• At least Six (6) years of practical experience, three (3) of which should be at a senior procurement level in a Public or Reputable organisation.
• Must hove a working knowledge of MS Word, Excel Powerpoint and procurement management software. Relevant Experience in Donor funded projects is an added advantage.
• Must hove well developed analytical and reporting skills
• Ability to cultivate team spirit in a specialised unit, lead and motivate qualified and specialised staff is essential.
• Good understanding of the PPDA Act & Regulations and International Procurement Standards & Regulations.
• Ethics and integrity, communication and time management.
