About the LGT Impact Fellowship

As part of LGT Venture Philanthropy’s and Lightrock’s strategic efforts to scale positive impact, the LGT Impact Fellowship was established to provide additional know-how and capacity to portfolio organizations and companies. Each year a limited number of professionals are nominated to work full-time for one year with the organizations and companies supported by LGT Venture Philanthropy and Lightrock in Africa, India and Latin America as per the above job description. LGT Impact Fellows are part of an enriching cohort of like-minded Fellows. They benefit from various program activities, including a 1-week in-person kick-off workshop, webinars, access to the network and know-how of LGT Venture Philanthropy, etc.

 

About the Fellowship role

4G Capital is building the management and technical capacity for sustained growth of its financial inclusion products in Uganda.  An integrated technology, product and talent transformation plan (already underway) must be delivered in 2024 while growing the current loan book and maintaining high portfolio quality.

 

The DCM will support the CM, deputizing as necessary, by leadership and coordination of all business lines of operations.  This is an important executive position, delivering the objectives set by the CM and Exco and able to deliver all mandated outputs and delegated duties.

 

This position will suit an individual able to plan, communicate and coordinate concurrent business functions, anticipate future requirements and prioritize competing demands.  They will run the day-to-day operation, manage effective communication and teamwork across the business unit to allow the CM to focus on longer term strategic design and planning.

 

Fellowship location: Uganda – Kampala – Bugolobi

Employment: Full-time, one-year Fellowship

Starting Date: As soon as practicable; before budget season (September start) latest would be helpful.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Management and control of the operating budget with the finance team
  • Management of training pipeline and people development program with HR
  • Management of key people and financial processes (budget writing, annual appraisals, mid-year appraisals, coaching and performance plans etc.)
  • Support to critical relationships with external stakeholders: suppliers, government agencies, regulators and local partners
  • Business oversight of enabling functions: admin, IT, audit and legal
  • Be prepared to act as Country Manager in his/ her absence
  • Other duties as directed





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in business administration or related field an advantage
  • Proven budgeting experience, P&L analysis and forecasting skills
  • Commercial/financial background essential; banking sector experience an advantage
  • Experience in Uganda an advantage
