Job Title:  Corrosion QA/QC Specialist

Organisation: Sunmaker Energy Uganda Limited

Duty Station:  Kampala, Uganda

Reports to: QA/QC Manager

Job Summary:   As a Corrosion QA/QC Specialist, you will be responsible for overseeing the integrity and durability of our company’s oil and gas infrastructure. Your expertise will ensure that all materials and equipment are resistant to corrosion, thereby maintaining safety, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement corrosion management systems and inspection plans.
• Conduct regular corrosion assessments and material inspections on pipelines, storage tanks, and other oilfield equipment.
• Coordinate with engineering and maintenance teams to recommend corrosion prevention and mitigation techniques.
• Analyze corrosion data and prepare detailed reports on findings and recommendations.
• Oversee the application of protective coatings and cathodic protection systems.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
• Train and supervise junior QA/QC staff on corrosion control measures.
• Collaborate with external contractors and vendors to manage corrosion-related projects.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Three years of experience in corrosion control within the oil and gas industry.
• Certified by NACE International as a Corrosion Technician, Technologist, or Specialist.
• Strong understanding of corrosion mechanisms, materials selection, and protective coatings.
• Proficient in the use of corrosion monitoring and inspection tools.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Working Conditions:

• Field and office environment with regular onsite inspections.
• Must be willing to travel to various operational sites as required.
