About US:

The Capital Markets Authority (CMA) is a statutory body, established in 1996 by the Capital Markets Authority Act (Cap 84) as amended, to promote, develop and regulate the capital markets industry. CMA is governed by a Board of Directors appointed by the Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development. The work of the CMA is also governed by the Securities Central Depositories Act, 2009 and the Collective Investment Schemes Act, 2003.

 

Job Summary:  The Market Supervision Officer will analyze the  financial  data  of  market  intermediaries  and  manage investor and other stakeholder complaints/concerns.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Undertake Assets Under Management (AUM) analysis and prepare quarterly AUM reports for intermediaries.
  • Conduct analysis of financial statements and net capital requirements of market intermediaries and prepare periodic reports.
  • Conduct offsite and onsite inspections of approved persons in line with the inspection plan and timetable.
  • Handle investor complaints to ensure timely resolution or escalation to the level of investigations and enforcement as necessary.
  • Disseminate financial data to internal and external stakeholders
  • Monitor compliance  and  make  recommendations  for  changes  or amendments in the regulatory framework.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Law or other relevant degree from a reputable university (minimum of upper second class);
  • Possession of a partial or full professional or academic qualification in finance, investment, pensions, accounting, law or other related filed will be an added advantage.
  • Three years of relevant work experience gained from a reputable private or public sector organization, accounting, audit or law firm;
  • Experience in the capital markets industry is an added advantage;
