Job Summary:   The Manager Personal Banking will primarily develop and implement strategies for acquisition, growth and retention of customers within the Bank’s Personal Banking segment. The role holder will proactively lead the Personal Banking team and have full accountability to drive sustainable business growth and maximize profitability of the segment in line with the Bank’s strategic plan, credit policies and procedures.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drive initiatives aimed at achieving business targets in line with the Bank strategy for personal banking segment across the various bank distribution channels
  • Continuously review and innovate to ensure that the Bank’s Personal Banking solutions are in line with changing customer needs and deliver a consistent customer value proposition.
  • Structure and review Personal and Mortgage scheme proposals, negotiate terms with Employers and recommend for approval to the relevant committees.
  • Proactively lead customer relationship management in the segment to enhance customer experience, drive value and increase share of wallet.
  • Manage the performance and development of staff in the section in line with the set key result areas (KRAs) outlined in their respective performance contracts.
  • Mentor and develop a team of highly motivated personal bankers within the branch network accountable for exceeding customer satisfaction, relationship building, and operational performance targets for overall growth of the personal banking segment.
  • Initiate and recommend product development and procedure refinement ideas to meet the dynamic needs of the market and improve turnaround time in consultation with the Head of department.
  • Effectively represent the Department, on secondment, to key Bank committees like the Management Credit Committee, Product and innovation committee as may be required from time to time.
  • Managing Operational and Credit Risk by ensuring that personal banking lending are within the stipulated bank lending policy
  • Ensuring that customer loans are properly and timely dealt with to arrive at a rapid credit decision and satisfy customer expectations.
  • Closely monitoring the personal banking loan portfolio and ensuring that delinquency levels meet the projected targets, and ensuring they remain at an acceptable level to minimize credit losses.
  • Ensuring efficient processing of the facilities under the Mortgage and Personal loans schemes and timely submission of monthly reports
  • Supporting personal banking sales strategy for Liability and asset products to targeted consumers and retention of existing ones.

Financial Responsibility

  • Responsible for personal banking financial targets as will be agreed, from time to time, using different parameters especially on customer numbers, Liabilities, Assets and revenue growth.
  • Responsible for controlling costs to within agreed budget.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold an honours degree in business or any other related field from a recognized university.
  • Possession of a Certified banking qualification or master’s degree in a relevant field would be an added advantage.
  • Relevant Practical training in banking product management.
  • At least ten years of experience in a Banking, of which 3 must be in a managerial role.
  • This position requires a highly self-directed with independent judgment individual who is passionate about the fields of community development and banking.
  • Must have critical thinking, analytical, attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have an in-depth understanding about personal banking product features, pricing, benefits, positioning, design and promotions.
  • Highly organized and self-directed.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to demonstrate and coach exceptional customer service.
