Job Summary:  The Faith and Development Integration Officer role is a direct implementation role based in the field and will facilitate the execution of Faith and Development Integration Fund funded Faith and Community Transformation project (FACT) in the West Nile Nexus Programming.  The project strongly contributes to the achievement of Strategic Imperative 1 “Living out our Christian faith and calling with boldness and humility” in contextually appropriate ways by integrating F&D into our grants programming, staff formation and Response operations. The incumbent will largely support efforts to enhance staff, beneficiary and children’s faith and spiritual nurture in West Nile particularly in Refugee households using WV F&D models and spiritual nurture approaches. The role will also support the establishment, nurture and management of strategic and deliberate faith partnerships in West Nile for enhanced child wellbeing and strengthen the integration of F&D models into the Mental Health and Psychosocial Social Support Projects and the Provision of multisector assistance and protection to Refugees in West Nile and Northern Uganda Phase II project. It will further address unique Nexus programming contextual issues in AP and Refugee response contexts using F&D models and approaches as a way of addressing the root causes of poverty.  The role is expected to bring to life through vivid and bold ways WV values and faith distinctives as well as F&D approaches and impact in grants, partnerships, response operations and staff and children.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Spiritual Nurture of Children.

  • In liaison with the Response Spiritual Nurture Focal Person and Committees, enhance SNC interventions with a new intentional and focused approach etc.
  • Roll out FACT specific SNC targets and outputs through the Nexus program structures.
  • Uphold and disseminate the WV SNC policies, standards and approaches in the Nexus programs so much so that SNC will become an indispensable priority.
  • Harness existing and build new Church partnerships to enhance SNC using standard and contextually innovative and appropriate initiatives.
  • Ensure that as much as possible the Nexus Program integrates SNC
  • Support the execution and roll out of cognitive and age appropriate SNC interventions such that no child is left out appropriately adhering to WV and Partner SNC models’ standards such as EWV4C, D2D etc
  • Ensure that SNC data is readily and appropriately tracked and is easily available to inform learning and child wellbeing decisions.

Staff Spiritual Nurture.

  • Conceptualize, commit to, model and support the integration of WV Christian ethos and values in all tenure of programming in the Response.
  • In liaison with the Spiritual Nurture Coordinators and staff spiritual Nurture Committees Support the delivery of all NO staff spiritual nurture and all compliance initiatives such as devotions, MIP etc
  • Lead the delivery of FACT specific staff Spiritual Nurture initiatives such as staff Bible quiz, spiritual conferences, small group Bible studies etc
  • Track the metrics and any other data about staff Spiritual nurture specific to FACT and support the other SSN data monitoring efforts.
  • Effective Integration of F&D Models into West Nile Nexus Program.
  • Avail and interpret the F&D Results Framework and programming priorities and standards to the West Nile Response Team in simple, adaptable and appealing ways.
  • Support the Nexus Program Units with specific F&D Model integration related demands and guidelines.
  • Support the training of staff and partners in F&D models.
  • Working hand in hand with POs and MEAL, ensure that F&D Model related data is regularly reported in line with standard guidelines.
  • Provide technical guidance for integration of Empowered World View, Channels of Hope models, Celebrating Families etc. in grants and AP programs in the West Niles Response as envisaged in the National strategy.
  • Disseminate Faith and develop guidelines that will support delivery of the Child Protection and Participation Technical Program objectives in Omugo and Odupi APs as well as across the response throughout the project period appreciating the unique response context.
  • Enhance skills and capacities of staff and partners in Faith and Development strategies, models and approaches in the Technical Programs.

Church and Faith partnerships.

  • Lead the FACT church and faith partnership mandate in the West Nile Response and offer all the necessary guidance for successful, intentional and strategic partnership for child wellbeing.
  • Support the dissemination and adherence to F&D church and faith partnership business processes and standards.
  • Support the development, nurturing and operationalization of local church and faith partnerships in West Nile supporting the Local faith partners to appreciate and contribute to our partnership approach and priorities.

Household Psychosocial and Economic Resilience.

  • Support the execution of assessments and market surveys in a gender sensitive manner to guide the effective and meaningful establishment of household income interventions.
  • Work closely with the BPRM project partners, ensure that target households are trained in mindset changing approaches to premise sustainable household income interventions.
  • Support the training, group formation, experiential learning and acquisition of necessary inputs to manage successful market-oriented farmer led local value chains of specific enterprises.
  • Support the execution of community-based awareness and dialogue sessions on MHPSS in line with project strategy and with special focus on child benefit and participation.
  • Support the enhancement of leaders’ and community structures MHPSS capacity.

Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting.

  • Develop and maintain linkage of all FACT activities with appropriate WV child wellbeing outcomes and indicators.
  • Work closely with the Response MEAL team to ensure that FACT data and metrics are appropriately monitored and reported.
  • Use output and outcome monitoring data to inform and improve FACT performance.
  • Document feedback and lessons learned during implementation and stories of transformation.

Any Other Duties

  • Perform any other duty as may be assigned by supervisor or designee from time to time.
  • Participate and contribute to teams, committees and task forces appointed to.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant for the World Vision Faith Integration Officer job must hold a Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Development Studies, Social Work and Social Administration, Community Development or Divinity/Theology with additional training in Development or Any Other relevant Degree with additional Theological training from a recognized institution.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Divinity or Theology or related field will be an added advantage.
  • Four years of experience working in International Development Organizations, Faith Based and Christian organizations.
  • A self-starter preferably with the Uganda Refugee Response experience.
  • Knowledge of WV Faith and Development models will be a strong requirement.
  • An interdenominational, non-partisan and accommodative Christian outlook is a MUST for this role.
  • Experience with executing Livelihood and Climate Smart Agriculture or Mental Health and/or Psychosocial Support projects.
  • A highly collaborative, accommodative and outgoing people person with a calm and friendly demeanor.
  • Must have proven analytical, problem solving skills and ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Proven ability to cultivate and nurture long term partnerships with churches and faith communities across denominational shades.
  • Experience with working with multifaceted multi-ethnic teams will be key.
  • Effective in written and verbal communication in English. Knowledge of collaborative linkages and working with consortia.
  • Skills in Mental Health models such as PFA, PM+ and Livelihood approaches like Climate Smart Agriculture, S4T and LVCD.
  • Must have good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good knowledge and commitment to WV’s ethos, philosophy of work, and models.
  • The position requires a resilient person living or able to relocate to West Nile. It demands willingness to travel within the Response up to 50%.
  • Fluency in English and some West Nile dialects like Lugbara, Aringa, Alur or Sudanese.
