About US:

Redeem is a Christian (International) NGO with a mission of protecting widows and orphans from violent abuse and exploitation. We are currently launching casework teams in the Wakiso and Iganga districts to partner with local law enforcement authorities in land grabbing cases.

 

Job Summary:   As a data Officer for Redeem, you will support the respective project offices to collect the data necessary to measure the impact of Redeem’s intervention on the lives of widows and orphans.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Impact Evaluation

  • Collaborating with Redeem’s M&E Manager and organizational leadership in the development of Redeem’s impact evaluation strategy and implementation model;
  • Liaising with local authorities to identify populations of recently widowed women and orphaned children in Redeem’s project area;
  • Conducting surveys and/or investigations to determine the prevalence of predatory eviction victimization among identified widows and orphans;
  • Collecting relevant data about survey and/or investigation subjects, including but not limited to demographics, marital status, land ownership and incidents of abuse;
  • Ensuring that all data collected meets the quality standards and is provided in a timely manner to inform program improvement and management decision making;
  • Entering collected data into appropriate databases for analysis;
  • Connecting survey and/or investigation subjects who meet Redeem’s casework intake criteria with Redeem’s Investigators for potential assistance; and
  • Supporting data collection efforts in other Redeem project areas as needed.

Performance Monitoring

  • Supporting and collaborating with the Casework Administrator in the collection of team performance data;
  • Supporting the casework teams in basic data collection and management tasks;.
  • Monitoring the quality of the performance data collected by the casework teams;
  • Providing regular updates to the M&E Manager on the team’s performance data; and
  • Ensuring functionality of the M&E system

Miscellaneous

  • Communicating with donors, supporters, media and other outside parties about Redeem’s work;
  • Contributing to the review and design of organizational systems, guidelines and policies;
  • Participating in Redeem’s professional development and spiritual formation activities;
  • Supporting other teams within Redeem in the achievement of their objectives;
  • Performing clerical duties (photocopying, filing, posting, errands, etc.) as needed, and
  • Completing other duties as assigned.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a degree in statistics, population studies, economics, development studies or any other relevant discipline
  • At least three years professional experience in M&E, research and data management.
  • Experience with conducting surveys and data collection;
  • Experience in qualitative research
  • Experience in using electronic data collection applications (ODK, Kobo collect etc)
  • Experience using cloud-based data collection tools, platforms and systems;
  • Preferred: Experience working in start-up, international, matrixed and/or faith-based organizations;

 

Skills

  • Required: Fluency in English, Lugbara and Kakwa with excellent written and oral communication in all;
  • Required: Data management with impeccable attention to accuracy and detail;
  • Required: Computer literacy with strong capacity in word processing, email and other systems;
  • Preferred: Understanding of Google business suite and digital project management tools.
