Job Title:    ACTV Fundraising Co-ordinator

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

 

About US:

The African Centre for Treatment and Rehabilitation of Torture Victims ( ACTV ) is a Non-Governmental organization in Uganda which commenced operations in 1993 whose mandate includes advocacy against torture and provision of physical and psychological treatment and rehabilitation, social support and legal services to survivors of torture.

 

Job Summary:   The Fundraising Co-ordinator plays a crucial role in supporting and coordinating fundraising activities. She/he is responsible for ensuring smooth, effective and efficient fundraising operations, developing strategies, and engaging with potential donors to generate funds/ resources for ACTV’s mission and goals.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop Fundraising Strategies:-

  • Collaborate with the fundraising team and organizational leadership to develop effective fundraising strategies aligned with the organization’s mission and objectives.
  • Conduct research and analysis to identify potential funding sources, new fundraising trends, and innovative approaches to maximize fundraising efforts.

Donor Engagement and Relationship Building:

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential donors to increase donor loyalty and support.
  • Coordinate donor communication efforts, including newsletters, acknowledgement letters, and personalized follow-ups to express gratitude and foster stronger connections.

Fundraising Campaign Coordination:

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute fundraising campaigns, including online campaigns, events, corporate partnerships, and community outreach initiatives.
  • Collaborate with communications and Advocacy team to develop compelling campaign materials, online content and social media strategies to enhance fundraising efforts.

Fundraising Event Management:

  • Organize and manage fundraising events such as galas, auctions, and benefit concerts, ensuring smooth operations, logistics, and participant engagement.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to secure event sponsorships, secure venues, manage budgets, and oversee event marketing and promotion.

Grant Proposal and Writing:

  • Research and identify grant opportunities from various sources, including foundations, corporations/ private sector, International NGOs, and government agencies.
  • Prepare and submit compelling grant proposals, ensuring adherence to funding guidelines, and effectively communicating the organization’s objectives and impact.

Database Management:

  • Oversee the management of donor databases, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records of donations, contacts, and communications.
  • Analyze data to track fundraising progress, identify trends, and generate reports to inform decision-making and evaluation.

Networking and collaboration;

  • Map out and Participate in networking activities with an aim of fundraising and resource mobilisation.
  • Map out potential partners to collaborate and network with an aim of fundraising and resource mobilisation.

Fundraising Reporting and Analysis:

  • Prepare regular reports on fundraising activities, donor acquisition and retention rates, campaign performance, and financial status for internal stakeholders and organization leadership.
  • Analyze fundraising data and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement, assess the effectiveness of strategies, and make data-driven recommendations.




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, development studies, International Relations, Mass Communication and Journalism) or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in fundraising, preferably within a nonprofit or charitable organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with donors and stakeholders.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in database management and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of fundraising best practices and trends especially in Human Rights.
  • Proficiency in using fundraising software and platforms.
  • Creativity and flexibility to adapt strategies to changing donor preferences and market trends.
  • Passionate about the organization’s mission and the ability to effectively convey its impact to potential donors.
