About US:

The Eastern Africa Grain Council (EAGC) is a membership-based organization registered in Kenya with country offices in Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, and Rwanda. The Council seeks to contribute to the integration of national and regional grain markets, and by so doing increase market access and incomes for the grain value chain stakeholders, especially the smallholder farmers.

 

Job Summary:   We seek to fill the advertised position with an individual who is analytical, has good organizational skills, and development skills, and is capable of working independently and as part of a team. The successful candidate should be highly professional, self-motivated and a proven high achiever with good leadership skills.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  Reporting to the GBI Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following amongst others:

Membership Recruitment and Retention

  • Work together with the Country Programs Manager to implement a membership recruitment and retention strategy including management of relationships and ensuring member satisfaction through regular contact and prompt resolution of arising issues.
  • Recruitment of Members in Uganda.
  • Ensure service delivery and communication on a timely and regular basis for all EAGC Members
  • Profile existing members and keep track of their needs and specific interests in EAGC and membership satisfaction

Program Implementation

  • Work closely with the Country Programs Manager to implement the country strategic and annual work plans that are aligned to the EAGC overall strategic plan in Uganda.
  • Work with the Country Programs Manager and the Regional Manager, Structured Trading Systems (STS) to implement the STS Initiatives in the area of operation.
  • Support the Country Program Manager in promotion, direct marketing and advertising of EAGC fee-based services.
  • Work with the Country Programs Manager and the GBI Manager to implement the Capacity Building and training activities in Uganda.
  • Identify the training needs of current and potential stakeholders and develop relevant content to meet these needs in Uganda.
  • Work closely with the Grain Institute Manager and Associates/Consultants on course development
  • Prepare and implement a yearly training calendar for GBI based on the approved strategic plan
  • Monitor and report on the impact of training and capacity building programs, making the necessary recommendations for improvement.
  • Support the marketing and promotion of the Institute through the execution of planned activities and delivery of set targets.
  • Maintain good relations with collaborating partners such as universities, technical institutions, etc
  • Maintain a database of Trainers and Professional Advisors, monitor work allocation and contract execution and raise any matters of concern with Grain Institute Manager.
  • Set up and effectively manage the Institute’s resource centre, ensuring that both physical and online materials are up to date and relevant to our stakeholders
  • Research on new training delivery methodologies that address the needs of the stakeholders and make recommendations to the Grain Institute Manager
  • Conduct Commercial Fee-based Trainings in Uganda.
  • Identify, plan and execute program-based training courses in Uganda.

Institutional Strengthening

  • Engagement with Partners supporting EAGC Programs and strengthen EAGC engagement with Program partners in Uganda.
  • Fundraising and resource mobilization among partners and Members
  • Support in developing new programs in Uganda based on the Strategic plan, Mission and Vision of EAGC

Financial Management and Internal Control

  • Execute EAGC strategy following effective internal process and procedure
  • Develop regular and timely reports as per the requirements
  • In consultation with the Country Program manager, support commercial services and revenue generation for Activities in Uganda.
  • Effective management of EAGC resources and expenses and timely reporting on all financial expenses as per the internal procedures.

Learning and Development

  • Demonstrate continuous learning and skills to execute EAGC Activities.
  • Regular documentation of the lessons learned in program implementation to guide in program review and strategic growth.
  • Support in Monitoring and evaluation, Data Collection and reporting of all EAGC programs in a timely manner.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in education
  • Three years of relevant work experience
  • Experience in curriculum development and delivery of training courses.
  • Strong negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills.
