About US:

Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) was established as a public Authority and its mandate is to regulate, promote and oversee the quality of coffee along the entire value chain, support research and development, promote production, and improve the marketing of coffee in order to optimize foreign exchange earnings for the country and payments to the farmers.

 

Job Summary:   The Manager Statistics will make recommendations to the Authority on statistical matters including statistical information on coffee production, prices, exports, imports, and consumption of coffee; indicator prices; stocks and compliance in providing statistical information.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Promote the use of best practices in statistical production and dissemination of official statistics.
  • Provide technical advice in the preparation of the UCDA annual Budget, and spearhead the preparation and implementation of departmental Work plans, procurement plans and training plans.
  • Plan and carry out studies and surveys required to have coffee statistical indicators in line with the international standards and guidelines.
  • Develop and implement methodologies and procedures of compilation of coffee statistics indices /matrices in line with international guidelines.
  • Develop statistical guidelines and methodologies in line with the international best practices for computing coffee statistical indicators.
  • Spearhead regular production of coffee statistical indicators and analytical reports necessary for policy formulation, development, planning, and Monitoring and Evaluation of programmes.
  • Undertake capacity building, coaching and mentoring and on-job training in statistical compilation, data analysis and research of staff in the Department and undertake staff appraisals, document and ensure proper accountability of resources.
  • Carry out any other duties as may be assigned by Management from time to time.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Master’s Degree in Statistics, Quantitative Economics, Economics, or related discipline.
  • A Bachelor Degree with Honors in Statistics, Quantitative Economics, Economics and Statistics, Mathematics and Economics. or relevant discipline.
  • Post-graduation certificates in Statistics or Public Administration, Management, Monitoring and Evaluation will be added advantage.
  • Membership to the Uganda Statistical Society.
  • Membership to an International Statistics Institute or any other statistical association will be an added advantage.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years relevant working experience, three (3) years of which should have been served at a managerial level in Government or reputable organization in public or private sector.
