About US:

Action for Health Uganda (A4HU) is a youth empowerment organization dedicated to mainstream young peoples’ engagement in socio-economic development and promoting Sexual and Reproductive Health and rights (SRHR). A4HU was registered in October 2017 as a new entity to take over the operations of DSW (Deutsche Stiftung Weltbevoelkerung) in Uganda. For the past 18 years DSW has supported the implementation of a portfolio of projects to improve sexual and reproductive health of young people in Uganda.

 

Job Summary:  The Strategic Partnerships & Resource Mobilization Officer will be responsible for a range of operational and analytical tasks necessary for mobilizing and managing resources while engaging in technical dialogues with potential and current donors, coordinating all arrangements and ensuring the smooth functioning of the activities related to fund generation and resource mobilization as well as maintaining records, monitoring and managing the operating fund.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Resource mobilization

  • Research and identify funding opportunities, list them and share the information with the A4HU management team.
  • Support funding proposal development activities, including project and budget plan proposals and provide background research into funders and their priority areas.
  • Develop fund generation and resource mobilization work plans and continuously follow up on implementing these plans.
  • Lead administrative processes and procedures required to receive grants and other resource streams.
  • Develop resource mobilization presentations and briefing notes; participate in donor and membership meetings.
  • Continuously identify calls for proposals and processing of funding opportunities.
  • Coordinate the processing of agreements concerning funding opportunities and ensure effective and timely follow-up in submitting reports to the donors and grant renewal proposals.

Project management

  • Collaborate with other project leads and develop sound annual resource mobilization plans and budgets to support the A4HU’s strategic plan effectively.
  • Work continuously with the management to monitor resource projections and scenarios and develop targeted adjustments to resource mobilization strategy to facilitate diverse resource streams.
  • Monitor donor policies, trends and funding mechanisms related to the A4HU’s thematic advocacies and advise management on developing, implementing and revising the resource mobilization strategy to respond to those changes.
  • Participate in local, national and regional workgroups relevant to resource mobilization.

Relationship-building

  • Develop, maintain and manage the relationship with donors to ensure continued funding and recommend innovative funding opportunities.
  • Represent A4HU in donor meetings and other spaces relevant to resource mobilization.
  • Undertake other relevant activities as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant should hold a Master’s degree in Social Science, Development Studies, International studies or other relevant fields.
  • At least three (3) years of resource mobilization or fundraising experience in a non-profit organization, preferably national, regional or international.
  • Proven experience in coordinating a national, regional or global fundraising campaign that involves working with multiple stakeholders and requiring multiple layers of consultation and tracking over time.
  • Professional certification or other specific training in resource mobilization is an added advantage.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage complicated processes and other high-level administrative tasks.
  • Proven ability to work independently and use creative problem-solving skills in order to overcome obstacles and achieve goals.
  • Experience working with teams from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Fluent in verbal and written English.
  • Able to use online platforms and quickly learn new digital tools.
  • Willing to travel.
