Job Summary:  Throughout the countries and in line with the EEA Insurance Policy, you ensure that local risks are appropriately covered, you manage and coordinate implementation of ENGIE Group Insurance Programs in the region if relevant, and you develop, maintain and manage Local Insurance Programs.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Implementation and management of insurance programs and relation with project insurance teams:

  • Support the design and implementation of EEA insurances
  • Coordinate the gathering of information
  • Arrange broker tender as the case may be
  • Manage and instruct EEA brokers
  • Ensure timely renewal of EEA insurances
  • Monitor claims handling including coordination of loss adjuster surveys
  • Adopt relevant reports towards EEA management

Contribute to risk exposure improvement, notably through : 

  • Contractual review: procurement, partnership, construction, selling, financing, …
  • Technical prevention: identify major changes impacting risk profile, coordinate engineering surveys and recommendations follow-up
  • Ensure transparency of communication of insurance loss exposure analysis and insurance audits reports
  • Contribute to and support the internal control activities




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Master’s degree in a relevant field
  • At least five years of experience on energy-related topics, especially off-grid solutions
  • Strong interest in risks and insurances, with a clear understanding of the strategic and financial implications
  • Ability to adopt and comply with risks management and insurance methodologies and tools
  • Strong knowledge of its business perimeter and its future evolutions. The Insurance & Risk Officer should be able to understand the operational, budgetary, legal, ethical and environmental issues linked to entities business in his perimeter
  • Adaptable to company and business transformation, the Insurance & Risk Officer must also be open-minded and forward-looking about emerging risks

 

Competencies:

  • Professional level command of written and spoken English. French is an advantage
  • Strong Microsoft skills including Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • To fulfill the compliance requirements, the Insurance & Risk Officer must be rigorous, methodical, and independent
  • As a business partner, the Insurance & Risk Officer should be proactive to dialogue with the company top-managers and to challenge risks taken and their mitigation plans.
  • Moreover, he/she must be close to the operations and the other risk and project stakeholders within his/her perimeter and embody the role of ambassador of the risks and insurance topics within all projects
  • Excitement about EEA´s mission and deep desire to make an impact on off-grid financially underserved customers in sub-Saharan Africa
  • Demonstrates initiative and role model behavior in leading and empowering others
  • Has proficient skills in communicating information
  • Develops and maintains partnerships and collaborates with others in the team to build strong professional relationships.
  • Curiosity and entrepreneurial mindset
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural and international environment
  • Ability to consistently perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Language(s):  French, German and/or Portuguese is a plus
