Job Summary:  The PMTCT Specialist will provide strategic planning and technical leadership for PMTCT programming to USAID LPHS-EC project teams, as well as the district local governments and their structures. The position holder will also build and effectively manage PMTCT partnerships at various levels and teams including the Ministry of Health, Development, and Implementing Partner Networks, as well as within and across the region.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Closely working with supervisor, other program, and district teams, to lead the design, implementation, and continuous evaluation of PMTCT interventions.
  • Lead efforts for and participate in hands-on PMTCT skills building activities for districts, healthcare facility and community managers and service delivery teams through onsite training, support supervision, mentoring and coaching.
  • Closely work with and support project Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning team, district, and site teams on a continuous basis to identify PMTCT site-level record gaps and put in place and institutionalize corrective actions.
  • Closely work with and optimally leverage efforts from the MOH, regional and district PMTCT/MNCH teams to build and sustain healthcare facility level capacity for delivery of quality PMTCT services across the continuum of services.
  • Support implementation and utilization of the PMTCT audit tools to scale in all ART sites.
  • Fully participate in development of project workplans as well as writing reports and presenting performance results as when and where needed.
  • Effectively and actively participate in the MOH PMTCT technical working group activities and other related national level fora, including providing effective representation of the project.
  • Supervise other project teams as designated.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Diploma in Clinical Medicine, and additional training and experience in eMTCT/Pediatric/HIV/AIDS clinical management and programming.
  • Additional graduate training (i.e. MPH) will be of added advantage.
  • At least five years of experience working with eMTCT, care and treatment clinical service delivery support programs.
  • Knowledge in clinical eMTCT programming, including the current national guidelines for HIV prevention, care and treatment and TB management in eMTCT settings.
  • Experience in training and mentoring other healthcare workers.
  • Experience is leading other project teams to achieve desired project goals.
