Job Summary:  The Manager – Digital Marketing & Communications will lead the development, implementation, and management of our company’s marketing and digital communication strategies. As the Marketing and Communications Manager, they will have an overall user view of our products and services and will work with product managers to conceptualize, create, execute, and measure campaigns to promote our brand, products and services. To ensure consistent messaging across all platforms and channels, they will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Telco-Marketing, MoMo Product, Commercial, Public Relations, and Customer Service.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategy Implementation

  • Abide by and execute the functional strategy cascaded by the functional lead.
  • Assist in the review of the functional strategy and roadmap, in collaboration with the functional lead, to ensure its alignment with the changing dynamics of the internal and external ecosystem.

Operational Delivery

  • Develop and execute communication strategies:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive communication plans to increase brand awareness, generate leads, and engage with our target audience.
  • Stay updated with the latest communication trends and technologies to enhance our presence and increase engagement.
  • Manage digital channels:
  • Oversee the company’s media channels, including traditional, digital, and other emerging platforms.
  • Develop content for social media, email marketing, and other digital channels that align with our brand and messaging guidelines.
  • Monitor and analyze media and digital asset analytics to track engagement, identify areas of improvement, and make data-driven recommendations to enhance the effectiveness of our campaigns.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams:
  • Work closely with Telco-Marketing, Products, Commercial, Public Relations, and Customer Service teams to ensure consistent messaging across all channels.
  • Develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to create impactful campaigns that drive business results.
  • Manage digital communication budget:
  • Develop and manage the communication budget to ensure that all campaigns are cost-effective and aligned with the company’s financial goals.
  • Track and report on the ROI of each campaign and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Lead communication projects:
  • Manage all aspects of communication projects, including project planning, budget management, and execution.
  • Ensure that all communication projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet or exceed expectations.
  • Own and maintain product net promoter scores
  • Governance
  • Strategic Meetings
  • Participate in strategic meetings when required.
  • Execute OpCo-wide transformation initiatives when required by the functional lead.
  • Implement adequate risk mitigation and controls with directions from the functional lead.
  • Assist in the evaluation baseline of Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and KPIs when required.
  • Assist in preparing proposals on change initiatives, SLA alterations, policies, and procedures when required.
  • Escalations
  • Escalate issues resulting in severe time, scope, productivity, and cost or resource impact on the functional lead.
  • Function Tactical
  • Execute projects initiated in the specific sub-function.
  • Abide by the established objectives, targets, and budgets for the sub-function when required.
  • Document identified key risks, issues, and dependencies and set mitigation actions with guidance from the functional lead.
  • Prepare documentation required for sign-off on tactical changes.
  • Support the internal stakeholders in managing the marketing-related relationships.
  • Manage all the internal stakeholders from the operational verticals directly impacting outcomes, such as Products, Financial Operations, Commercial, Regulatory, Business Intelligence, Business Risk, Technology, Customer Support, and Finance.
  • Performance
  • Ensure execution is in alignment with divisional strategy.
  • Reporting
  • Report daily to the functional lead about progress made within the work area per the organization’s measurement metrics.
  • Report on an ad-hoc basis on specific projects, as required.
  • Budgets
  • Abide by the function’s budgets in line with business objectives.
  • Abide by project initiative budgets in line with business objectives.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant for the MTN Uganda Mobile Money Limited Manager – Digital Marketing & Communications job must hold a Bachelors in marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Relevant post-graduate qualification is an advantage.
  • Relevant Certifications
  • MBA or master’s degree in a related field is an advantage.
  • At least five years of experience in digital communications or marketing.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing media platforms and content creation.
  • Strong understanding of SEO, SEM, email marketing, and other digital marketing channels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in budget management and reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze data and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of web design and development is a plus.
  • Experience in Fintech, banking, or Mobile Money is preferred.
  • Experience working in a global/multinational enterprise with a good understanding of emerging markets is preferred.
