Job Summary:  The Community Engagement Assistant will work closely with the Sanitation Marketing Officer and other members of the team implementing the City-Wide Inclusive Sanitation (CWIS) project in Kampala. He/she shall contribute to efforts to expand the project’s customer base and to handle relationships with existing customers.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor repayment of toilet installments by existing customers covered under the CWIS project’s installment scheme.
  • Take appropriate repayment enforcement actions regarding installment customers, in coordination with Water For People colleagues.
  • Handle incoming phone calls from potential customers for toilet facilities and proactively follow-up with them by phone, respond to their queries and guide them in the application process.
  • Based on tasks 1-3, continuously update the online “Tracker” project tracking tool where necessary.
  • Participate in community events for toilet promotion and any other project support tasks assigned to you by your supervisor.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The incumbent will be a holder of at least a Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Environmental Health Science, Social Sciences or any other related discipline.
  • Knowledge of English and of Luganda is a must.
  • He/she should be self-motivated, a seasoned negotiator with good interpersonal and communication skills.

 

Payment Terms

  1. UGX 6,000 for every existing/potential customer engaged with and whose status is updated in the Tracker.
  2. UGX 70,000 / UGX 100,000 for every potential customer engaged with who confirms his/her toilet application by making the required down-payment. The amount will be UGX 70,000 if the toilet has up to 3 stances and UGX 100,000 if it has more than 3 stances.
  3. Airtime of UGX 30,000 per month for mobile internet. If this is exhausted before the end of the month, it may be topped up, within reason.

The payments under 1. and 2. will be made in bulk at the end of the month.

These payment terms may be adjusted in the course of the assignment.
