About US:

The Insurance Regulatory Authority of Uganda (IRA) was established under section 14 of the Insurance Statute 1996 now The Insurance Act, (Chap213) Laws of Uganda, 2000 (Insurance Act) which came into effect on 4th April 1996 and commenced operations in April 1997. The establishment of the Insurance Regulatory Authority of Uganda was a consequence of Government’s adoption of the liberalization and privatization policies which ended its role of directly engaging in the provision of goods and services and taking on the role of supervisor or regulator.

 

Job Summary: The Senior Estates Officer will oversee the maintenance of the Authority’s building, supervise team members, and oversee the day to day running/management of the Authority’s Property.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain property rentals by advertising and filling vacant space, negotiating and enforcing the renewal of leases, and maintaining and securing premises.
  • Establish rental rate by surveying local rental rates and calculating overhead costs, depreciation, taxes, and profit goals.
  • Attracts tenants by advertising vacant space, obtaining referrals from current tenants, explaining advantages of location and services, and showing units.
  • Accomplishes financial objectives by collecting rents, paying bills, forecasting requirements, preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective action,
  • Maintains property by investigating and resolving tenant complaints, enforcing rules of occupancy, inspecting vacant units and completing repairs, planning renovations.
  • Maintains building systems by contracting for maintenance services and supervising repairs.
  • Secures property by contracting with security, installing and maintaining security devices, establishing and enforcing precautionary policies and procedures, and responding to emergencies.
  • Maintain good client relation.
  • Develop and enforce property management policies and procedures.
  • Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends,
  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelors (Honors) degree in Estate Management, Commerce, Business Administration, Law, Accounting or its equivalent.
  • At least a Post Graduate Degree in Estates Management, Procurement, Law and or in any other Management related field.
  • Three years of experience in Property Management from a reputable organization.
