About US:

The Insurance Regulatory Authority of Uganda (IRA) was established under section 14 of the Insurance Statute 1996 now The Insurance Act, (Chap213) Laws of Uganda, 2000 (Insurance Act) which came into effect on 4th April 1996 and commenced operations in April 1997. The establishment of the Insurance Regulatory Authority of Uganda was a consequence of Government’s adoption of the liberalization and privatization policies which ended its role of directly engaging in the provision of goods and services and taking on the role of supervisor or regulator.

 

Job Summary:  The Receipts & Payments Officer will maintain IRA’s books of accounts as per the relevant policies and procedures and prepare financial reports.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process all receipts and payments documentation accurately through the computerized financial management systems on a timely basis;
  • Prepare and post general journal vouchers;
  • Issue invoices;
  • Avail a weekly cash report for Management;
  • Arrange paperwork and also supporting documentation for creation of new debtors/creditors or amendments to existing debtors/creditors and submit to officer responsible for updating the database;
  • Filing all records accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Carry out any other duty as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree (Hons) in Commerce, Business Administration; Accounting; Finance or in any other equivalent qualification from a reputable higher institution of learning.
