Job Summary:  The Projects Engineer – Civil will actively contribute to reach maximum completion of Projects civil works by performing the appropriate procedures to ensure the projects are done within budget and in compliance with the OH&S regulations.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • OH&S and environment: Guarantee compliance with OH&S and environment policies for projects maintenance personnel working under the projects engineer civil. Contribute to plant cleanliness and Risk Analysis and suggest mitigation measures for civil works
  • People Management: Monitor performance of projects maintenance contract personnel.
  • Prepare quality Bill of Quantities (BOQ’s) for the required civil structures and modifications
  • Review and approval of contractor’s manpower, project schedules and method statements
  • Oversee / onsite monitoring of critical works during construction phases
  • Review and approval of civil drawings and follow up with the approval process
  • Do engineering and designing of structures according to the engineering design standards.
  • Use AutoCAD drawing as a tool for civil drawings developments
  • Technical advice on civil related plant issues for corrective actions.
  • Performing quality control tasks on budgets, schedules, plans and personnel performance and reporting on the project’s status.
  • Cooperating and communicating with the project manager and other projects participants and collaborating with other engineers to create more efficient project methods and to maintain the projects profitability. Health, Safety and Environment;
  • Comply with Health & Safety Rules and Regulations as per Holcim H&S Standards and Advisories
  • Communicate clearly on information relating to potentially dangerous situations and get confirmation that they are correctly understood.
  • Ensure the use of Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Check for safety and cleanness in the workplace
  • Comply with Environmental Rules and Regulations as per Holcim environmental standards and local regulations

Policies, processes & procedures

  • Ensure the application of Standard Operation Procedures (SOP’s) within the process in line with group policies and procedures.
  • Review and approve operational procedures of the process in line with group policies and procedures.
  • Makes decisions for advanced operational issues and sets the directions for the process in line with business strategy.
  • Sets and ensures the implementation of SOP’s for the process.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Degree in Civil Engineering
  • At least two years of experience in the Civil Engineering field.
  • Good command of written and spoken English and computer literacy
  • Be able to do Risk Analysis and suggest mitigation measures for civil works
  • Excels in a fast-paced environment, owns the outcomes.
  • Imagines new ways of doing things, makes them happen.
  • Deep commitment to personal growth (and role modelling as such).
  • A strong focus on workplace safety and demonstrated safety leadership
  • Self-driven, results oriented.
