Job Title: Management Trainee – IT Services (Fresher Jobs)

About US:

The National Information Technology Authority-Uganda (NITA-U) is an autonomous statutory body established under the NITA-U Act 2009, The Authority is under the general supervision of the Ministry of Information Communications Technology and National Guidance (MOICT&NG). The National Information Technology Authority, Uganda was established with a mandate to coordinate, promote and monitor the development of IT in the context of social and economic development of Uganda.

 

Job Summary: The Management Trainee will provide technical know-how to manage and operate IT hardware, software, and application solutions within the Personal Data Protection Office.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Install and configure software and computer systems and other peripheral hardware including printers, projectors, scanners, etc.
  • Ensure security of IT Infrastructure maintenance/monitoring of anti-virus, patching, and, network monitoring.
  • Train staff in basic IT skills. e.g. use of new software, and troubleshooting.
  • Support Administration in maintaining an up-to-date list of IT Equipment.
  • Test, evaluate, and make decisions about new technology for the business.
  • Carry out user requirements gathering and harmonization of the requirements into automation solutions
  • Researching, designing, implementing, and managing software programs
  • Testing and evaluating new programs
  • Identifying areas for modification in existing programs and subsequently developing these modifications
  • Writing and implementing efficient code
  • Maintaining and upgrading existing systems
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • An Honours Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Security, Systems Development, or a related field from a recognized university is required.
  • Experience in IT Support and Systems Development is an added advantage.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of working experience in any field of Information Technology or Systems Development is a requirement.
  • Understanding of trends and developments in the areas of Information Security and risk management.
  • Basic knowledge of systems development principles and practices.
  • Able to prioritize to drive delivery of tasks.
  • A resilient team player with a can-do attitude, who is willing to take responsibility.
  • Good communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility, persistence, and willingness to work on a variety of activities/ tasks.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
