About US:

The National Information Technology Authority-Uganda (NITA-U) is an autonomous statutory body established under the NITA-U Act 2009, The Authority is under the general supervision of the Ministry of Information Communications Technology and National Guidance (MOICT&NG). The National Information Technology Authority, Uganda was established with a mandate to coordinate, promote and monitor the development of IT in the context of social and economic development of Uganda.

 

Job Summary: The Management Trainee will support in the investigation of complaints and data security incidents reported to the Personal Data Protection Office.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the execution of the investigation of complaints and reported data security breaches.
  • Provide technical guidance with respect to regulatory guidance issued on reported data security breaches.
  • Monitor and report on new and emerging threats to data security in the technology arena.
  • Review descriptions of security measures to safeguard personal data highlighted in applications for registration.
  • Review and action on complaints made regarding contravention of data controllers and processors’ statutory obligation to develop and implement appropriate security measures to safeguard personal data.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal applicant must hold an Honours Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Security, or a related field from a recognized university is required.
  • Experience in cyber security and risk management is an added advantage.
  • At least six (6) months of working experience in any field of Information Technology or Information Security is a requirement.
  • Understanding of trends and developments in the areas of Information Security and risk management.
  • Basic knowledge of Information Security principles and practices.
  • Able to prioritize to drive delivery of tasks.
  • A resilient team player with a ‘can-do attitude, who is willing to take responsibility.
  • Good communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility, persistence, and willingness to work on a variety of activities/ tasks.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
