Job Summary: This role is responsible for the design and development of the compensation and benefits/reward structures and related guidelines for EEA. To ensure a holistic approach to EVP development which includes non-monetary benefits across the organisation taking into account country nuances, manage employee wellness and continuously work on strategies to improve Employee experience. This role will assist in creating the HR overall strategy, pay philosophy and approach to employee offerings.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • In this exciting position, as part of our global finance team, you will work on a variety of challenging topics and take responsibility for your own projects. As the ideal candidate, you will be experienced, highly motivated and accurate with a passion for renewable energy and finance expertise to join our team. This position will be part of the Global Accounting and Reporting team.
  • As our Accountant, you will ensure timely and accurate financial accounting, support the implementation of processes to ensure best practices and compliance with accounting standards and tax laws.
  • The Accounting & Reporting department, with a team of 9 people, is responsible for cash management, setting up and improving financial procedures, bookkeeping and internal and external reporting of financial data for the entire organisation across 13 countries. You will report to the Head of Accounting.
  • Manage SAP preparation of supplier & service provider invoices for payment ensuring all supporting documentation are added to the ERP (LPOs, Delivery Notes, Invoices)
  • Management staff payment requests, visa payment processing, URA payments.
  • Verification, allocation, posting and monthly reconciliation accounts payable and receivable
  • Analyze financial information and summarize financial status and production of accounting reports
  • Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures to improve efficiencies
  • Preparation of financial statements and production of budget verse actual analysis according to schedule
  • Support month-end and year-end close process
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls to enhance compliance with IFRS and GAAP principles
  • Liaise with our Financial Operations Mangers, Heads of Finance and Accounting Managers to improve financial procedures, accurate and timely reporting.
  • Manage country inventory deliveries in SAP
  • Reconciliation of Intercompany accounts i.e., receivables, payables with countries
  • Reconciliation of revenue recognition and cost of goods booked in SAP

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • BS degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant
  • Relevant certification (e.g., ACCA or CPA) will be preferred
  • Proven experience as an Accountant or accounting supervisor
  • Working knowledge of inventory management is preferred but not mandatory
  • Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
  • In-depth understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Familiarity with financial accounting statements and the Uganda Tax Regulations
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
  • Hands-on experience with accounting ERP such as SAP B1
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
