Currently running a hospital in Namugongo, and an  urban  clinic in  Ntinda, LifeLink offers both   general  and specialist  health  services  in  a  sparkly,  friendly  and  well-supervised  environment.

 

Job Summary:  The Database and IT Support Technician will ensure the highest level of integrity of data in our software management system is entry by all teams. The incumbent will also monitor and maintain computer systems and networks, diagnose hardware and software faults and solve technical and application problems and ensure optimum performance of all ICT devices throughout LifeLink Medical Group.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Data Management Systems and Information Security

  • Support the roll out and implementation of new solutions or applications (Support users in the usage of the Hospital Information Management System)
  • Set up new users’ accounts and profiles and deal with system usability issues.
  • Ensure that the medical records are accurately captured, organized and complete in the Hospital (HIMS) system
  • Ensure data backups are done as scheduled and backup copies are safely stored.
  • Daily review of medical records to ensure completeness and accuracy of the information.
  • Ensure that all information systems are accessible 24/7 both locally and remotely.
  • Ensure that the hospital website is up-to-date, and website content is reviewed regularly.
  • Ensure reports are generated and shared as required.
  • Protect hospital data and ensure that all staff and visitors follow the recommendations to access hospital data.
  • Implement and monitor compliance of staff to the hospital HIMS policies
  • Train staff on data access and security policies and act in case of any form of non-compliance.
  • Regularly review database management system security to identify and implement developments that will improve data security.

Computer Systems and Networks

  • Install and configure software and computer systems and other peripheral hardware including printers, projectors, scanners etc.
  • Ensure 24/7 availability of stable Internet and Local Network connectivity.
  • Troubleshoot system and network problems, diagnose, and solve hardware/software faults.

IT support and administration

  • Respond in a timely manner to service issues and requests.
  • Providing technical support and troubleshooting across the company (this may be in person or remotely)
  • Train staff in basic IT skills e.g., use of new software, troubleshooting.
  • Test, evaluate, and advise on the new technology for the company.
  • Maintain up updated documentation of software applications, hardware, and other ICT equipment.
  • Liaise with external IT support suppliers to resolve issues as required.

Reporting

  • Hardware assessment report
  • Staff HIMS Training report
  • Security incidence report
  • HIMS data and compliance report
  • Network coverage, outage, and accessibility reports
  • Identified security vulnerability report
  • Risk assessment Report

  • Well designed and up to date website

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate should hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Science or in related field.
  • Two or more years of work experience, one of which should be in providing IT Support
  • Knowledge and Experience in digital records management.
  • Experience in database management.
  • Experience in website management.
  • Experience in installing, configuring, and managing both wired and wireless LAN, and firewalls.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High degree of initiative, dependability, and ability to work with and supervise others.
  • Strong sense of personal integrity.
  • Attention to detail.
