Our client, a Micro Finance Institution is seeking to hire a Human Resource Business Partner having direct supervisory responsibilities for HR country managers in the countries of operation.

 

Job Summary: Reporting to the Strategic Growth Manager, and working closely with the Group CEO, the role shall have oversight of 2 countries to start, growing to 5-6 in the medium term and is based in Kampala Uganda.

As the Human Resource Business Partner, you will play a key role coordinating our client’s HR teams across the organization. You will be a collaborator across all functions and you will work closely with the management teams to ensure that our Human Resource goals and initiatives are implemented and delivered on. You will be the lead in developing and driving our people and culture strategies delivering a great HR service to our employees and the business.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Human Resources function across the organization.
  • Providing hands on and practical guidance to the Country HR Managers so that tasks are completed on time and meet the goals of the company.
  • Design and implement a group recruitment plan that meets the needs of the organization’s growth and retention goals and support the HR teams implementing this.
  • Review all HR related policies and procedures to create manuals and policies that are consistent across the group in terms of content as well as branding and format.
  • Lead on the annual HR Budget process which results in an HR budget that takes into consideration all individual country HR Budgets and needs, supporting the HR Managers to complete this in a consistent and easy format.
  • Lead and support the HR Managers in each country to develop their skills and capacity as well as creating a forum for knowledge sharing and discussion across the HR teams.
  • Roll out a competitive and feasible Reward, Incentive and Retention Plan maintaining this according to business needs and progress.
  • Lead the HR team to own and drive compliance with policies, including delivery of effective training and communication.
  • Oversight of the use and development of the internal HR system across multiple countries ensuring that it is used as effectively as possible an becomes an integral part of the employee experience at the company.
  • Build the Human Resources team capacity ensuring the HR function acts as a key business partner to all internal stakeholders and one that lives the values of the company at all times.
  • Lead and support on ensuring the organization builds a company culture that is consistent across all of our entities and that as we grow, we continue to focus on our people and their development.
  • Review the entire employee life cycle from the first day a new joiner starts to the day someone leaves, designing and implementing great induction policies and processes as well as ensuring in depth exit processes are carried out so that the teams continuously learn and improve.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Completed Bachelor’s Degree in HRM and ideally started or completed a relevant Masters level qualification.
  • Leadership and Management: Proven advanced ability to recruit, hire, train, supervise and develop staff.
  • Prior experience in a similar role, ideally within a multiple country environment.
  • HR Standards, Guidelines, and Practices: Advanced knowledge of best practices, guidelines, regulations, and standards for managing Human Resources.
  • Employee Life Cycle: Advanced knowledge of the employee life cycle from recruiting through separation of employment.
  • HR Files and Documentation: Advanced knowledge of legal requirements, procedures, and practices for filing and maintaining HR records.
  • Labor Law and Practices: Advanced knowledge of the country’s labor laws, regulations, and practices – East Africa. Other countries in Africa would also be an added advantage.
  • Demonstrated expertise in organizational effectiveness, talent management, and working within a matrix structure.
  • Compliance: knowledge of the elements of compliance, and organizational risks in relation to HR and Legal matters.
  • Must be comfortable interacting with staff and partners, at all levels on sometimes sensitive topics.
  • Extremely pro-active with high attention to detail and Microsoft office skills.
