Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide Finance and Accounting support to the Finance department in Uganda and other subsidiaries
  • General ledger posting of financial transactions/activities
  • Assist the Director of Finance in budget monitoring and tracking
  • Tax compliance- filing tax returns, generating tax payment slips and ensuring taxes are paid on time (payroll taxes, withholding tax, income taxes among other applicable taxes)
  • Performing monthly bank reconciliations
  • Cash flow management and ensuring optimal bank balances
  • Maintaining proper documentation of accounting records both in hard and soft copies
  • Compiling payables list and ensuring all payments are done on time
  • Reviewing the accuracy of payment, supporting documents before payments are disbursed e.g invoices, requisitions, SLAs
  • Monthly payroll administration – payroll preparation, paystubs and payroll tax/deductions compliance
  • Managing and reconciling office petty cash
  • Coordinating office administration roles
  • Financial reporting to regulators as and when required
  • Any other duty that may be assigned from time to time

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounts
  • Preferably a Certified Accountant and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants
  • At least five years of experience in accounting
  • Experience in the Fintech industry will be an added advantage
  • Attention to details
  • Self-driven & self-starter with a global mindset
  • Finance & analytical skills
  • In-depth knowledge of URA in regards to taxes obligations, tax filing, submission and payment processes
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Finance experience in East Africa will be an added advantage
