About YIDaMS Project:

In partnership with Mastercard Foundation, Ripple Effect Uganda plans to implement a five-year (2022 – 2027) Youth Inclusive Dairy Market Systems Project (YIDaMS) whose aim is to enable 50,000 young women and men to access dignified and fulfilling work in the dairy sector. These will comprise of youth aged 18-35 with 70% young women, 5% young people with disability and 10% refugee youth.

 

Job Summary:  The Enterprise Development Coordinator will help deliver SACU/ Ripple Effect 5 -year Master card Foundation funded project on Youth Inclusive Dairy Market support in Southwestern Uganda.  Specifically, the Enterprise Development Coordinator will deliver SACU’s dairy value chain while ensuring that youth are at the centre of business development, expansion and management with the objective of ensuring that youth get dignified employment.

 

This role will ensure the YiDAMs teams and sub-granted delivery partners have the capacity, confidence and tools to design effective youth skilling value- based programmes and to support innovation during project implementation.

 

The Enterprise Development Coordinator will oversee partnership, market linkages and built teams capacity to deliver the intervention. Support intervention teams to identify and facilitate the development of dynamic and inclusive enterprises that are aligned to dairy value chain. Leading value chain and/or market analysis studies intended to support and match youth skilling interest and enterprises to actors in the value chain

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Leads YiDaMs Enterprise Development at community project level.
  • Coordinates technical support of Enterprise Development and Innovation response in all the Project districts.
  • Line manages and motivates the project team to have business orientation in their day-to-day work.
  • Track enterprise development, youth engaged in dignified employment
  • Provides direct technical support to project teams.
  • Builds the capacity of project field staff on Enterprise development, business incubation and management
  • Orients new staff on enterprise development approaches.
  • Ensures that project team have the training materials, tools and resources to implement and track project performance.
  • Supports down- stream partner to strengthen their enterprise development and youth skilling capacity for effective programme delivery.
  • Organize and train Trainer of Trainers programme for the project, both staff and community resource person.
  • Contributes to the development, documentation and roll out of relevant Enterprise development and Innovation training materials
  • Provides clear and documented quality standards for country teams and assesses quality standards.
  • Conducts periodic technical best practice reviews of a sample of our district implementation.
  • Ensures that relevant materials continue to be easily accessible to project teams including field staff.
  • Work with the Project Manager for ICT linkages.
  • Support the establishment, expansion and management of Incubation centers
  • Networks with relevant private sector players, including ICT partners, off takers, traders etc





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Masters -Degree in agribusiness, livestock management related courses, business administration,
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, business administration, agriculture economics, agribusiness, micro-finance and related fields with post graduate qualification in a related field.
  • Rich field and community development work experience with minimum of 6 years of supervising extension workers
  • Knowledge in extension services delivery
  • Experience in layering of services
  • Experience of preparing, monitoring and managing budgets and work plans
  • Staff Management experience
  • Knowledge of environmental good practice
  • Full and deep understanding of all technical aspects of the Ripple Effect programme
  • Strong people management ability
  • Numerate
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Report writing skills
  • Team player
  • Skills is computer applications such as word, excel, outlook and PowerPoint
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong networking skills.

  • Postgraduate training in related field is an added advantage

  • Experience in research and development
  • Knowledge in extension services delivery
  • Ability to identify funding opportunities
