About US:

Food for the Hungry (FH/U) is a Christian international relief and development organization that has been working in Uganda since 1989. FH is currently operating programs in Asia, Latin America and Africa with support offices in the UK, Canada, Switzerland, Sweden, United States of America and Japan. FH’s primary goal is to end all forms of poverty World-wide. In Uganda, FH is operational in the Districts of Adjumani, Kitgum, Lamwo, Kole, Kween, Mbale, Namutumba and Amudat Districts implementing programs in four main sectors of Education; Food Security and Livelihoods; Health/Nutrition and Disaster Risk Reduction; with the Head office located in Kampala.

 

Job Summary:    Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Program Director (PD), this role will be part of the Program Delivery Team. The EYA specialist will lead in making FH the partner of choice in Education, Youth and Adolescent programming in Uganda. Provide substantive and hands-on support to Area Programs (APs) and technical officers to implement the FH Y&A strategy. The incumbent will be the go to person for FH’s Community System for Accountability and Feedback (C-SAFE). Gender, diversity, Protection and inclusion strategic initiatives. Will ensure strong policy engagement, collaboration, private sector partnerships in the areas of Youth entrepreneurship, skills development, Adolescent, Sexual, Reproductive Health Rights(ASRHR), Y&A participation and engagement Will also promote organizational growth and portfolio diversification and contribute to strategy development whilst positioning FH across all districts of operation in the EYA space

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Education, Youth & Adolescent (EYA) Program strategy implementation (20%)
  • Strategic partnerships development for business acquisition and growth (15%)
  • Program Quality and impact (25%)
  • Networking and External Engagement with technical Sorking groups, donors, potential partners C-SAFE, Gender, Protection and Inclusion (2006)




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Typically, 5+ years of experience in Education, Youth & Adolescent programing, compliance, external engagement, Gender mainstreaming, Safeguarding, financial and project management experience.
  • Prior experience working with private and institutional donors. This will include UNWFP. UNFAO, UNHCR. UKAID/FCDO, GIZ, KOICA. USAID, EU-ECHO, PRIA
  • Non-profit ministry experience is a plus.
  • Program leadership experience that includes risk and compliance management, financial, and opportunity development
