Job Summary:  The Communication and Partnership Advisor will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and supporting the internal and external communication of the projects and by increasing awareness, understanding and support by stakeholders and different target groups. The Communication and Partnership Advisor will support the development of the VVOB Uganda Communication Strategy and coordinating its implementation. Responsible for the branding of VVOB Uganda. The Communication and Partnership Advisor reports to the Strategic Education Advisor. Furthermore, you work closely together with the different departments of VVOB in Uganda and with the communication department at head office.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • You operationalize the global and country communication strategy on both internal and external communication, including capacity development of colleagues and partners;
  • You provide coordination, technical support and advice to the VVOB colleagues and partners when needed (sharing programme updates, organization of events, …)
  • You coordinate the development of balanced communication outputs, identifying and using the best channels and media to reach the target group, as well as other stakeholders such as financial and technical partners.
  • You keep abreast with policy trends, take part in internal and external working groups, task forces,… related to communication.
  • You support VVOB in maintaining strong partnerships and secure cooperation and sup-port from VVOBs partners.
  • You support the promotion of VVOBs capacity as a reliable partner with donors and preferred im-plementing partners. As such you support VVOB’s external relations within the country.
  • You help to operationalize the global and country partnership strategy towards national partners and share your inputs in order to co-build/adjust this country strategy.
  • You provide support on (potential) national partnerships in development of new project and pro-gramme proposals.

 

If you are our Communication and Partnership Advisor, your workweek will include the following highlights:

  • As a communication expert, you will meet with different VVOB Uganda colleagues to discuss and develop communication plans and products for various educational programmes.
  • You will prepare weekly, monthly, and annual communication plans to support the VVOB communication agenda across all programmes.
  • You will support VVOB in maintaining strong partnerships and secure cooperation and support from VVOB partners.
  • Together with Strategic Education Advisor, you will work on promoting and positioning VVOB as a quality education partner among donors and preferred implementing partners.
  • You will provide support on (potential) national partnerships in the development of new projects and programme proposals.




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in communication, journalism or other relevant field or equivalent experi-ence
  • Expertise in developing internal and external communication and with the use of different media channels to do so (magazines, social media, …)
  • Expert understanding of digital, social, and other media and how to maximise impact and visibility for the organisation
  • Experience in building partnerships and partnership management in the education sector
  • Excellent computer skills in MS office and other relevant tools & technologies (digital media, graphic design tools,…)
  • Excellent command of the English language
