About US:

TechnoServe Inc/Uganda, a subcontractor to DAI, is implementing the Feed the Future Uganda Inclusive Agricultural Markets Activity (FtF IAM).  This market systems development Activity works with producer organizations, business development service providers, agro-industry/agribusiness firms, Government of Uganda institutions and agencies, and other market actors to create efficiencies in cross-market functions that enable systemic changes to sustainably increase incomes and improve the livelihoods of households through agriculture-led inclusive economic growth. The Activity will work throughout the Feed the Future Uganda Zone of Influence (ZOI), which covers 38 districts across four regions of Uganda.

 

Job Summary:  TechnoServe seeks a Partnership Assistant who will support in the implementation of TechnoServe’s efforts under FtF IAM and contribute to the overall delivery of program activities within selected regions in Feed the Future Uganda Zone of Influence (ZOI).

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support development of partnership with market actors, including but not limited to processors, traders, financial services, and business development services (BDS) providers, associations, and government institutions by supporting the competition, selection and negotiation processes.
  • Assist the PIMs with development of scopes of work, budget analysis, reviewing backup documentation and administrative tasks.
  • Coordinate across teams to develop monitoring and evaluation targets and submit data electronically through online system.
  • Support the management of strong relationships under ongoing partnership by coordinating communications, participating in field visits, supporting the procurement of goods and services needed by FtF IAM partners, and coordinating events.
  • Monitor the implementation and execution technical assistance and grants provided by FtF IAM, and work with the FtF IAM M&E team to collect, review and analyze data.
  • Contribute to regular reporting on activities.
  • Any other duties assigned to you by your supervisor.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate for the TechnoServe Partnership Assistant job placement must hold a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study, such as rural and agricultural development, agricultural economics, agribusiness and/or business development and business administration with at least 2 years of development experience relevant to the scope of work.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written), and analytical skills.
  • Strong Microsoft skills in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint; demonstrated ability to learn new systems quickly and attention to detail.
  • Experience in the private sector or building/managing investments or relationships with private sector partners preferred.
  • Experience in a business consulting environment is an advantage
  • Experience working with international donor agencies; experience with USAID management and administrative requirements preferred.

Job Specific/Technical Competencies include:

  • Partnership/Donor Management: program staff should understand and apply techniques to develop, maintain and manage business relationships with clients, donors and internal or external partners in order to implement and manage projects and/or identify new business.
  • Financial & Resource Management: an important competency program staff must possess to enable them budget properly based on facts and change course when necessary, knowledge of finance to develop and manage budgets.
  • Innovative Mindset: program staff should know how to ask questions and seeks out information from multiple sources, learn from mistakes, and see change as an opportunity.
  • Analysis, Research, Report Writing: Experience in business planning and analysis, modeling for feasibility and execution. Able to analyze and express oneself clearly in business writing.
