About US:

Mandated by the Uganda Cancer Institute Act of 2016, the Uganda Cancer Institute is an autonomous body, with the mandate to, among others, undertake and coordinate the management of cancer and cancer-related diseases in Uganda. It is critical to the evolution of a National Centre of Excellence, providing specialized treatment and care for all types of cancer using all the available subspecialty expertise possible, as well as engineering oncology-centered research and training.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To produce  structural  engineering  designs  for  Government buildings  construction  projects  that  are  not  being  handled  by consultants;
  • To check  and  verify  civil/structural  engineering  designs  and technical reports on Government building construction projects prepared by consultants;
  • To supervise and monitor construction works on Government building construction projects undertaken by contractors;
  • To check and certify consultants’ fee notes, contractors’ payment certificates and project final accounts on Government building construction projects;
  • To render technical advice on structural/civil engineering matters to other Government departments, parastatals, non-governmental organizations and the general public;
  • Carry out structural  integrity  assessment  public  structures, investigate building construction related accidents and preparing technical assessment reports to ensure safety.




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Civil/Structural Engineering honors degree, or related field from a recognized University.
  • Master’s degree will be an added advantage
  • Registration with the Uganda Engineers Registration Board (UERB) is a must.
  • At least three years of structural engineer in Government or in a reputable firm/organization.
  • Computer literacy skills
  • Competences in engineering and structural development policies

  • Research, analytical, reporting skills
  • Effective leadership
  • Integrity and concern for standards
  • Innovation; mentor, coach and develop subordinates
  • Time management and results oriented.
