Job Summary:  The Finance Systems Analyst mainly coordinates with Finance staff to support finance operations in all Pathfinder country offices and internal/external consumers of financial information.  Responsible for the oversight of various systems, including but not limited to, Serenic, DATABASICS, Concur and the finance portion of the IT Helpdesk.  Assist end-users on the financial systems with training and troubleshooting.  Develop training and workflow documentation; maintains the document library pertinent to all the financial systems. Support finance system performance – identify new opportunities which will increase the financial system’s level of performance; assist in evaluating and implementing new systems and procedures.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the monitoring and processing of timesheets, including reclassifications
  • Maintain all finance system documentation so they are complete and current. Ensure users have easy access to it
  • Intricate knowledge of Pathfinder’s policies and procedures and how they translate into the financial systems. Help to enforce the policies and procedures to reduce exposure and risk
  • Manage the financial systems component in the IT Helpdesk. Ensure all tickets are assigned, resolved, or escalated, if necessary, to fulfill end-user needs in a timely fashion.  Liaise with other departments, as needed, to fulfill the ticket request.
  • Participate in training colleagues in application functionality using a train-the-trainer approach
  • Process electronic expense reports from the travel/expense system into the financial system
  • Suggest areas for improvement in internal processes, along with possible solutions, to enhance staff productivity and to improve customer service
  • Ability to think outside the system for a-typical issues that arise. Thinking how the overall results will flow through the system, reporting needs and end-user consumption
  • Generate reports for users external to finance, as requested
  • Performs other duties as assigned




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree (or minimum 5 years’ experience) working in finance, financial accounting or Accounting Information or financial systems
  • Excellent computer skills in MS Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Accounting software skills with proven ability to learn new systems
  • Fluency in English, both written and oral
  • Ability to map policies and procedures into system structures to provide requested resolution(s)
  • Possess a general understanding in the areas of application programming, database, and system design
  • Ability to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels, including finance and non-finance managers
  • Strong business acumen and self-motivation, with a demonstrated proficiency in driving results
  • Possess professional integrity, honesty, initiative, dependability, and a commitment to excel
  • Strong planning, organizing, and coordinating skills. Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a cross-functional team. Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and multi-task with minimal supervision
  • Effectual interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to communicate sensitive information tactfully. Good presentation and conflict resolution capability

Preferred Education and Work Experience:

  • Work experience in an international organization (NGO) of at least $50M in revenue
  • Experience with Serenic Navigator, MS Dynamics, DATABASICS and/or Concur
  • Experience with US government and/or foundation contracts and grants. Knowledge of USG rules and regulations
  • Ability to write or speak in a second language – French, Portuguese, or Amharic preferred
