Job Summary:  The Finance Officer will be supporting the implementation of Partner project activities in compliance with MI Partner Guidelines, offer support to the finance and administration departments of MI.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular/periodic internal control verification exercises of partners and financial reports and make sure they are in line with MI’s partner administration guideline, policies, project agreements and/or partner’s established internal control policies
  • Under the guidance of the Finance Coordinator and and/or Partner Administration Coordinator, serve as a focal administration person for assigned partners to ensure regular communication, prepare draft monthly financial reports and to provide on the job training and coaching
  • Upload monthly financial supportive documents/vouchers and other required documents on SharePoint (Malteser International’s server) for the next reviewer
  • Assess partners administration and finance capacities and suggest expected trainings to Partner Admin Coordinator and/or Finance Coordinator
  • Assist the Finance Coordinator and/or Partner Administration Coordinator in project budgeting and contract related matters
  • Support the Finance Coordinator with preparing and checking procurement and service provider vouchers and bills for approval and prepare payment documents for signing
  • Support and contribute to Organizational Audits both internal and external




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor of Commerce or Bachelor of Business Administration, Accounting or equivalent degree and/or professional certification (CPA, IPA, CA, etc.) in accounting strongly preferred or equivalent experience
  • At least three years’ experience in a similar position
  • Demonstrated ability to assimilate to new policies and procedures effectively
  • Extremely detail oriented and organized
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (word, excel, outlook and PowerPoint) and accounting packages (Quickbooks, Fund Trac Light, ACCPAC, Navision, MYOB, etc) would be an asset
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)
