Job Summary:  Pangea Publishing Uganda works to create culturally relevant content and programs that help children learn to read and inspire them to read more often. The Communications Manager plays a critical role in promoting our mission and products. The role works directly under the supervision of the Country Director and CEO and between the business development, publishing production, and mobile library teams. We are looking for a dynamic writer, photographer, and marketer to build a department around. The position is based in Kampala and may require frequent travel.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Direct the strategic placement and design of the Pangea brand assets for prospective customers and in advertisements.
    • KPI: Design and create assets for advertisement
  • Take and/or manage the production of photos, videos, and copywriting for approved product stories, human interest stories for all media channels.
    • KPI: Production of all photos, videos and copy for all channels
    • KPI: Write copy for and manage social media content calendar
  • Manage Pangea Publishing Uganda social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn), YouTube Channel, and website.
    • KPI: Posting content inline with content calendar
    • KPI: Manage and respond to comments
  • Secondary Responsibilities:
  • Assist graphic designers with the development of brand assets
  • Assist with the development of product catelogue




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in the following fields: Communications, Design, or Arts or related area – Preferred
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite – Required
  • Familiarity with Facebook Ads, Instagram Ads, LinkedIn Ads,
  • Familiarity with CanvaPro – Preferred
  • Superior oral and written communication skills in English Required
  • Computer fluency and understanding of Google Suite and Canva Pro platform Preferred
