THETA’s Mission is to improve the health of the most vulnerable members of society by promoting health and preventing disease through capacity building, advocacy and research in partnership with traditional and biomedical health care systems and communities.

 

Job Summary:  The Assistant Project Officer will provide administrative services and monitor the implementation of Project activities in the Cluster in line with the THETA Objectives

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement a mechanism for monitoring the execution of the district led activities in line with THETA, Local Government and National Health Systems and Donor guidelines
  • Prepare and submit an accountability report detailing the activities, related funding and any other logistical facilities in line with the relevant policies, procedures and donor reporting deadlines
  • Prepare, on a quarterly basis, work plans to track project progress and share them with the Regional Project Coordinator and M&E Manager in line with the departmental guidelines and THETA Objectives.
  • Provide project progress information to the Regional Project Coordinator on a monthly basis, and provide changes in the implementation of the Project/Program to Key stakeholders in the districts within the respective cluster
  • Collect, analyse, file and submit to the Regional Project Coordinator and M&E Manager, and share with the district, all project activity data in line with the data management guidelines
  • Receive, record and distribute all project items to the to the intended beneficiaries, and provide, within the stipulated time the logistics related to the project work as directed by the Regional Project Coordinator
  • Generate mobile money wallets for facilitation of all intended beneficiaries for all activities implemented in time and submit to the GMU team with all the necessary support documentation.
  • Follow up prepared requisitions and payment of beneficiaries with the relevant key officers at the headquarters.
  • Plan and implement debrief meetings to the CAO and district health teams on the implementation of the project activities, and conduct planned trainings for the district health teams
  • Attend, record detailed minutes, follow up plans and recommendations, and maintain a file at the district for TASO grant activities.
  • He/she will evaluate the nature and condition of the project and make useful suggestions on the best practices and strategies to apply in project execution.
  • Participate in quarterly performance review/Technical working group meetings with the districts and with relevant stakeholders to assess performance in implementation of program activities in the districts.
  • Conduct routine monitoring visits to health facilities and communities to ensure quality continuous service delivery to beneficiaries.




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Diploma in Comprehensive Nursing, Clinical Medicine and Community Health or a related discipline with at least five years’ experience in providing clinical services, including implementation of community interventions
  • Three to five years of administrative experience within a medical establishment is a must.
  • Excellent skills with Microsoft Word Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.
  • Proven facilitation and training skills, including making presentations
  • Ability to pay attention to detail
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to solve problems
  • Ability to manage time effectively
  • Ability to mentor and coach other health workers
  • Riding skills are desirable because of the regular travel into the field.
