About US:

The Infectious Diseases Research Collaboration (IDRC) is a non-profit research organization. IDRC conducts research in infectious diseases including Malaria, HIV and Tuberculosis. Our studies have led to over 300 publications and have impacted on the management of infectious diseases in Uganda. IDRC currently manages over 41 Grants with an annual budget of $11 million. IDRC was established in May 2008 by Ugandan health scientists from Makerere University College of Health Sciences, University of California, San Francisco and the Uganda Ministry of Health.

 

Job Summary:  The Accountants will provide financial information in terms of encashment, mobile money processes support, working advance, bank, stock, general ledgers and indirect cost reconciliations for different projects.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure encashment and mobile money transactions are captured both online and in the Navision system.
  • Maintain tracking records of working advances and ensure accountabilities are availed timely to enable invoicing.
  • Ensure timely bank, stock, payable, payroll, Fund accountability statement and general ledger reconciliations as per stated timelines.
  • Ensure indirect costs transfers are effected on every reimbursement in line with the expenditure incurred in a timely manner.
  • Provide material financial information to senior staff members to enable decision making and cash flow management.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting preferably B.COM or BBA from a recognized University.
  • Level II or Full CPA & ACCA qualification is an added advantage.
  • At least two years of practical experience in a similar position.
  • Experience with management of US federal funds, Knowledge of internal control principles and procedures.
  • Knowledge of NAVISION is a MUST.
  • Attention to detail, Teamwork and ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities and see projects through to completion.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills and strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
